Putin stresses peace only after Ukraine’s surrender as Hungary’s Orban makes surprise visit to Moscow

[ad_1]

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who is advocating a peace deal to end the war in Ukraine, revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin has made clear that peace talks can only happen after Ukraine essentially surrenders. « If we sit in Brussels, we won’t be able to get any closer to peace. Action must be taken, » Orban said during a regular interview on Hungarian state radio following his visit. Orban turned heads this week when he made back-to-back trips to Kyiv and Moscow just days before a major NATO summit in Washington, D.C., next week. Hungary on Monday started its six-month tenure as the president of the EU, which is a rotating role among all members, and this is Orban’s first visit to Ukraine since the invasion started in Feb. 2022. European Union Foreign Policy chief Josep Borrell rushed out a statement stressing that Orban had no mandate from the union and that he was « not representing the EU in any form. » UKRAINE’S NAVY CHIEF SAYS RUSSIAN WARSHIPS ARE LEAVING CRIMEAN HUB IN BLACK SEAFinnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo described the visit as « disturbing » news, writing on social media platform X that the visit shows « disregard for the duties of the EU presidency and undermines interests of the European Union. »Orban insisted that he had had a « really useful, frank conversation » with Putin about Ukraine, and Putin said that the pair had discussed « possible ways of resolving » the conflict, repeating his demands that Ukraine withdraw all troops from annexed regions. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov claimed that Russia had had no idea about the visit until Orban’s camp established contact one day before his arrival. FRENCH ELECTION PREVIEW: POLLS SHOW RIGHT-WING PARTY LEADS RUNOFF AS OPPONENTS URGE TACTICAL VOTINGHowever, Orban admitted that after his two visits, he realized that the « positions are far apart » between Kyiv and Moscow, adding that « the number of steps needed to end the war and bring about peace is many, » Euractiv reported.Ukraine’s foreign ministry stressed that Orban had made the trip « without any agreement or coordination with Ukraine. »Leaders of NATO member states will meet in Washington, D.C., next week to mark the alliance’s 75th anniversary and tackle the issue of how to resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, now well into its third year. In a pre-summit background call, the White House laid out its goals for the week, including the announcement of new steps to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses and military capabilities, all with the intent of ultimately sending a « strong signal » to Putin that NATO will outlast him if needed. BRAZIL’S LEFTIST PRESIDENT CONCERNED BIDEN CAN’T BEAT TRUMP: ‘I THINK BIDEN HAS A PROBLEM’ »We’re also going to send an important message to the rest of the world, including through our partnerships in the Indo-Pacific, as we stand together united and in support of democratic values, » a White House spokesperson told reporters. But Orban’s trip has angered his allies, drawing backlash from various leaders across the bloc who deemed his visit to Moscow in particular a danger to their position in negotiations with Putin. « With such a meeting the Hungarian presidency ends before it has really begun, » one EU diplomat told Reuters. « Hungary does not seem to have understood its role. . . . The skepticism of EU member states was unfortunately justified – it’s all about promoting Budapest’s interests. »European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen wrote on X, « Appeasement will not stop Putin, » and « only unity and determination will pave the path to a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine. » White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre labeled the visit as « counterproductive » for NATO and argued that the visit « will not advance the cause of peace. »

Campaign crisis: Dems who have called for Biden to drop out or raised concerns about his health

President Biden’s catastrophic performance at last week’s debate has sparked panic among the Democratic Party’s hierarchy, with key players said to be mulling how to get him to abandon his re-election bid.The situation has plunged the party into crisis and threatens to drive a wedge between Biden loyalists and elected officials in swing districts ahead of next month’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Biden’s top campaign aides have been working damage control with major donors over the past week, while the White House — and Biden himself — remain adamant he is the right man to lead the party against former President Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee.BIDEN RESISTS MOUNTING PRESSURE TO STEP ASIDEVAN JONES SAYS DEMOCRATS NOW PLANNING ON ‘HOW’ TO REPLACE BIDEN WITH HARRISTwenty-three Democratic governors from across the nation descended on the White House on Wednesday evening to meet with the embattled president, but after the gathering, only Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who leads the Democratic Governors Association, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and Maryland Gov. Wes Moore spoke to reporters to express their support. Moore described the meeting with Biden as « honest » and « candid » and said that the governors were « going to have his back. »Hochul said President Biden was « in it to win it » and that the trio had pledged their support to him « because the stakes could not be higher, » invoking on the eve of Independence Day, the fight against tyranny.California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who many commentators have proposed as a possible Biden replacement, also took part in the White House meeting and backed the 81-year-old. « I heard three words from the President tonight — he’s all in. And so am I, » Newsom posted on X on Wednesday night. Newsom also publicly backed Biden immediately following the debate. « You don’t turn your back because of one performance, » Newsom said after the debate. « What kind of party does that? This president has delivered. We need to deliver for him at this moment. »Illinois Gov. J. B. Pritzker has also publicly backed Biden, as has Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs and Hawaii Gov. Josh Green. Elsewhere, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., a longtime Biden ally, has also expressed his support, as well as House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y. »A setback is nothing more than a setup for a comeback, » Jeffries posted to X on Saturday.Fox News’ Kyle Morris contributed to this report. This is a developing story and will be updated.

Washington pastor, husband and father reveals 24 things he’s learned in 2024

[ad_1]

A Washington-based pastor, husband and father is sharing 24 things he believes he’s learned in life as he takes a few moments in this summer of 2024 to reflect. »I wanted to share these insights because they have shaped me, » he told Fox News Digital. « My prayer is that others will be encouraged and empowered to live full of purpose and passion. »A professional soccer player earlier on in his life, Bradley saw his sports career end tragically due to a serious medical issue that was connected to medication prescribed to him while competing overseas.ATLANTA-BASED HUSBAND AND FATHER REVEALS 43 THINGS HE’S LEARNED IN 43 YEARS »I was fighting for my life for one year, » said Bradley. « It took me 10 years to fully recover. These things are what I learned in the deep, dark valley that I never wanted to walk through and couldn’t on my own. »He said, « We are made to receive and give hope daily. That’s why we must reject the narrative of hopelessness. The best is yet to come. » Bradley is pastor of Grace Community Church outside Seattle. He and his wife have six children. He is creator of the « Ignite Hope in 7 Days » series and is also a motivational speaker. He said, « God is the only one who fully knows and loves us. Let that sink in deeply. » Here are his 24 insights as shared with Fox News Digital. 1. God renews our minds and ignites our souls. Our hearts are not content until we drink deeply from the well of living water that Jesus offers. There is refreshment in God’s presence. ‘STILL A BLESSED NATION’: FOR THE FOURTH OF JULY, FAITH LEADERS WEIGH IN ON AMERICA2. Hope is a confident and joyful trust. Because God is faithful, we have an anchor for the soul in Jesus. 3. Hope is habitual. Intentionally cultivate daily habits that increase hope. Reject hope thieves. Make room for God in your life as you pray, meditate, read Scripture, give and forgive. 4. Hope is relational. Life is primarily about relationships. Love God and love people. We are designed to be connected, not isolated.  5. Hope is available to everyone at all times. God loves people in all nations and situations. The God of hope always overflows and never runs out.6. You might not find hope until you lose it. God will meet you at your lowest point. Every day is a gift — and we can always choose hope and gratitude.  7. Real hope is not a « maybe » or a wish. It is a yes and a certain and indestructible hope. God keeps all of His promises. ABC News panel says Biden interview won’t ‘calm the nerves’ of ‘jittery Democrats’

[ad_1]

The ABC News panel had some choice words for President Biden following his primetime interview with anchor George Stephanopoulos Friday. »Look, Biden looked better and certainly more coherent than he looked during the debate, but there’s nothing in this interview that is calming nerves of jittery Democrats who fear that Joe Biden is on a trajectory to lose this race, to lose to Donald Trump, » ABC News chief Washington correspondent Jonathan Karl told Stephanopoulos after the interview. « In fact, for some of those people, the interview is raising new concerns, particularly the fact that he is unwilling or unaware of the fact that he is in a dire situation here regarding the campaign, that he is losing, in the view of many Democrats and frankly in the polls you cited, that he is losing to Donald Trump, » he said.BIDEN PANNED FOR NOT BEING CERTAIN ABOUT WHETHER HE WATCHED THE DEBATE: ‘HE DOESN’T KNOW???’Karl added it was « alarming » when Biden said he would be content with a hypothetical defeat against former President Trump as long as he as he « gave it [his] all, » telling Stephanopoulos that a Biden ally reacted to him with a « wow. » »The bottom line here: there was nothing in this interview that will force Joe Biden out of the race… but there’s also nothing in this interview that will calm the nerves of Democrats who are saying it’s time for him to get out, » Karl added. ABC News chief global affairs correspondent Martha Raddatz said those Democrats she had texted insisted the interview « wasn’t as bad as they expected, » but added, « That’s a pretty low bar. »The network’s congressional correspondent Rachel Scott told Stephanopoulos after hearing from Democratic lawmakers, they’re concerned that while the « dam hasn’t broken tonight, » « the bleeding has not stopped, either. »BIDEN TAKES BLAME FOR ‘BAD NIGHT’ IN DEBATE AGAINST TRUMP: ‘MY FAULT, NO ONE ELSE’S FAULT' »Another Democrat telling me, ‘Better, but not sure that is enough,’ that they need more than one interview, more than 22 minutes to prove that the president has the stamina to continue in this race and defeat Donald Trump, » Scott said before adding that the « movement » trying to remove Biden as the Democratic nomine « is growing. »BIDEN REPEATEDLY DODGES ANSWERING WHETHER HE’D TAKE NEUROLOGICAL TEST: ‘NO ONE SAID I HAD TO’Raddatz concluded the panel by pointing to Biden’s default response, « Watch me, » when asked about his age, stressing that aging « is not like a broken bone. It doesn’t get better. » »Everyone is watching and believe me they’re going to be watching even more closely as we go forward, George, » Raddatz told the anchor. Among the most talked-about moments from Biden’s sit-down with Stephanopoulos, the first he has given since last month’s presidential debate, was his uncertainty of whether he had watched his disastrous debate performance and his refusal to commit to a cognitive test.  Biden’s shocking debate performance has become a political earthquake with wide swaths of the liberal media calling for him to withdraw from the presidential race. At a Friday campaign rally in Wisconsin, Biden insisted he is « staying in the race. »

Iranians voted Friday in a runoff presidential election between a hard-line former nuclear negotiator and a reformist lawmaker, with both men trying to convince a skeptical public to cast ballots after years of economic woes and mass protests roiling the Islamic Republic. The race between hard-liner Saeed Jalili and Masoud Pezeshkian, a heart surgeon and longtime member of parliament, comes after a first round of voting saw the lowest turnout ever for an Iranian election, leaving turnout Friday a major question.Meanwhile, wider tensions have gripped the Middle East over the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip. In April, Iran launched its first-ever direct attack on Israel over the war in Gaza, while militia groups that Tehran arms in the region — such as the Lebanese Hezbollah and Yemen’s Houthi rebels — are engaged in the fighting and have escalated their attacks.IRAN VOWS TO BACK HEZBOLLAH IN FIGHT WITH ISRAEL AS IRGC GENERAL RENEWS THREAT OF IMMINENT MISSILE STRIKEIran also continues to enrich uranium at near weapons-grade levels and maintains a stockpile large enough to build several nuclear weapons, should it choose to do so. And while Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei remains the final decision-maker on matters of state, whichever man ends up winning the presidency could bend the country’s foreign policy toward either confrontation or collaboration with the West.A heavy security presence could be seen on the streets of Tehran on Friday, as crowds appeared light at dozens of polling places. State television broadcast scenes of modest lines at polling centers around the country. Both Jalili and Pezeshkian voted in southern Tehran, home to many poor neighborhoods, in a bid to boost turnout. Though Pezeshzkian came out on top in the first round of voting on June 28, Jalili has been trying to secure the votes of people who supported hard-line parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, who came in third and later endorsed the former negotiator. One voter, 27-year-old Yaghoub Mohammadi, said he voted for Jalili in both rounds. »He is clean, without depending on powerful people in the establishment, » Mohammadi said. « He represents those who have no access to power. »Voter Samira Sharafi, the 34-year-old mother of a toddler, said she voted for reformist Pezeshkian, despite having voted for Qalibaf in the first round. She described him as « more experienced » than Jalili. There have been calls for a boycott, including from imprisoned Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi, though potential voters in Iran appear to have made the decision not to participate last week on their own as there’s no widely accepted opposition movement operating within or outside of the country.State television broadcast images of modest lines at select polling places around the country as polls opened Friday. As has been the case since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, women and those calling for radical change have been barred from the ballot while the vote itself will have no oversight from internationally recognized monitors.Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi, who is in charge of overseeing the election, announced all the polls had opened at 8 a.m. local time.Khamenei cast one of the election’s first votes from his residence, television cameras and photographers capturing him dropping the ballot into the box. »I have heard that people’s enthusiasm is more than before, » Khamenei said. « God willing, people vote and choose the best » candidate. However, Khamenei on Wednesday said that those who didn’t vote last week weren’t against the country’s Shiite theocracy. »There are reasons behind this matter which should be examined by sociologists and those involved in politics, » he said.More than 61 million Iranians over the age of 18 are eligible to vote, with about 18 million of them between 18 to 30. Elections are scheduled to end at 6 p.m. local, but traditionally get extended until midnight to boost participation.Friday’s election marks only Iran’s second presidential runoff since 1979. The first came in 2005, when hard-liner Mahmoud Ahmadinejad bested former President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani. Under Ahmadinejad, Iran faced international sanctions over its advancing nuclear program, as well as the 2009 Green Movement protests and the crackdown that smashed them.Pezeshkian’s supporters have been warning Jalili will bring a « Taliban »-style government into Tehran, while Jalili has criticized Pezeshkian for running a campaign of fear-mongering.The election comes after the 63-year-old late President Ebrahim Raisi died in a May 19 helicopter crash that also killed the country’s foreign minister and others. He was seen as a protege of Khamenei and a potential successor as supreme leader. Still, many knew him for his involvement in the mass executions that Iran conducted in 1988, and for his role in the bloody crackdowns on dissent that followed protests over the 2022 death of Mahsa Amini, a young woman detained by police over allegedly improperly wearing the mandatory headscarf, or hijab.

The history of the scant 2-piece bikini dates back nearly 80 years, designed to draw attention, horror

[ad_1]

The modern bare-backed bikini, though decorated with a unique tie or charm, is nearly identical to the creation of the first official risqué two-piece set from the 1940s, which turned both women and men off from the sight of it for almost two decades due to lack of conservativeness. On July 5, 1946, 18-year-old French exotic dancer Micheline Bernardini brazenly donned the first black and white bikini of its nature during a press conference at a public swimming pool in Paris.Louis Réard, a prestigious French mathematician-turned-clothing designer, pieced together the bikini design women have wiggled into for nearly 80 years with the intent of drawing attention. He hoped the bikini featuring newspaper clippings would strike as much shock and horror as the atomic bomb from 1945. The leaf-stopping photographs of Bernardini published on the front page of newspapers did just that.NATIONAL BIKINI DAY: 5 THINGS YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT THE SKIMPY TWO-PIECE SWIMSUITRéard hired Bernardini to saunter around in front of cameras in his G-string bottom and triangle top design when professional runway models refused to rock the next-to-nothing swimsuit.Bernardini received around 50,000 fan letters, mostly from men, following the news coverage of the ordeal, according to History.comThe design devoid of much fabric was labeled « bikini » by Réard after the nuclear warhead test happened off the tiny island of Bikini Atoll in the Pacific Ocean earlier that week.Though the adoration for Bernardini in 30 inches of cotton and jersey rolled in quickly, Réard’s design struggled to strike a chord with American wearers until the 1960s. In the 1950s, European women began wearing the scant bikini, though Spain and Italy banned the suit style on public beaches in the early 1950s.The skimpiness of the bathing suit was in part due to material rationing during World War II.SI SWIM SEARCH FINALIST KRISTEN LOUELLE GAFFNEY, MOM OF TWO, UNVEILS CURVES ON MIAMI RUNWAY: ‘MAGICAL MOMENT’WWII placed a heavy burden on rationing of supplies across the U.S. and Britain, and restrictions on items including food, shoes and fabrics, among other supplies, were put in place to conserve. In order to purchase items that were rationed, individuals had to both pay for food and materials, and also provide « points » at the time of purchase. Points were issued to people, including babies, in the form of blue and red stamps for a variety of selected items. If an item was easily accessible but rationed, it cost fewer points than an item in high demand. In 1943, one pound of bacon cost 30 cents and 7 points, according to the National WWII Museum. In terms of clothing, Britain rationed fabrics in 1941. A woman’s dress cost 11 points, and 8 points were required for a man’s shirt, according to the Imperial War Museum’s website. The length of men’s shirts was restricted and double cuffs on collared shirts were banned altogether. Additionally, prices of clothing rose and fabrics were limited. Some textiles, including silk, were made entirely unavailable to designers and manufacturers.SI SWIMSUIT COVER GIRL BROOKS NADER REVEALS HER SECRET TO STAYING BIKINI-READYAt the time, women’s fashion was not a priority, and the selection of clothing for women was scarce. As civilians remained dedicated to fashion, they made do with what was available and affordable. As the British and American governments continued their efforts to conserve for their nations, designers like Réard pivoted design and marketing strategies to appeal to audiences and used raw materials and resources like cotton to create stylized apparel that still met ration requirements – hence the bikini. When WWII ended, the rationing program did, too, but the bikini stuck around. While Réard provided the namesake, bikini drama and an audience for Bernardini, his design was not the first two-piece swimsuit available to sunbathers, though it was the first to be cut below the navel. In 1946, fashion designer Jacques Heim, and rival to Réard, revealed what he called the « smallest bathing suit in the world » and named it Atome for its size. However, his first designs were revealed in the 1930s.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPHeim hoped to create the same level of excitement surrounding the itsy bitsy beach apparel as the explosion of an atomic bomb, according to the Museum of Jewish People.Though women have appeared poolside in bikinis for nearly eight decades, the swimsuit remains a flagrant and attention-grabbing summer accessory.

Shark Watch: What to do if you see a shark at the beach

[ad_1]

The director of a renowned shark research center in California shared how to stay safe and the importance of not panicking if you encounter a shark at the beach this summer season.Chris Lowe, the director of the Shark Lab at Cal State University (CSU) Long Beach, told Fox News Digital that sharks will act aggressively when they feel threatened by humans. »If an animal feels threatened, it will act aggressively, » he said. « If you chase a cat down an alley, and you corner it, it will arch its back and raise its fur. « It will act aggressively to try to scare you off, » Lowe said.CALIFORNIA SAFEGUARD PROTECTING BEACHGOERS FROM SHARKS ON LIFE SUPPORT, EXPERT WARNSLowe said that through research at the Shark Lab, they have learned that sharks in Southern California are regularly around swimmers– and most of the time largely ignore humans. »I think a lot of times when people see sharks in Southern California, it’s because the shark wants to be seen, like they will literally swim right in front of people, » he said. « And a lot of times, they’re very shy. They’re very coy. » »We see many sharks just completely ignore people on the surface, » Lowe said.FLORIDA MAN ATTACKED BY SHARK ON BOATING TRIPThe shark researchers said that in the event you spot a shark, keep your eyes peeled on the predator. »What we always tell people is to look, keep your eyes on the shark, » Lowe said. « Let the shark know you see it and track it. » »If your face is in the water, follow the shark. It knows where your head is. It knows where your eyes are, » he said. « If you’re on your surfboard, turn your surfboard towards it. So the head of your surfboard acts like the head of an animal, and the shark feels like it’s being watched. »Lowe said that if you lose track of the shark, look behind you because the predator is likely stalking you. »If you lose sight of the shark, the first place you should always look is behind you, because that’s what all predators do, » he said. « If they’re going to investigate something, they’re going to investigate it from behind because that’s the safest way to do that. »WOMAN CONQUERS FEAR OF SHARKS BY SWIMMING  WITH OVER 20 OF THEMLowe said that an aggressive shark can be identified if it’s « rapidly coming in and then zipping away. » »What an aggressive shark looks like is its rapidly coming in and then zipping away and coming in closer and zipping away or circling and getting closer and closer, » Lowe said.He said that if the shark is swimming slowly, it could mean that it is just curious and not aggressive. »But if they start picking up speed, that’s usually associated with aggression, » he said.Lowe said that shark aggression is typically associated with two reasons: for defensive reasons or if the predator is protecting its food source. »There could be some food nearby that it’s trying to protect, and therefore it might be acting aggressively towards a person, » he said.Lowe said that if a shark starts acting aggressive, they slowly back away without losing eye contact. »Just keep slowly moving back, always facing the sharks, swimming away, » he said. « And then if you get out of the water, notify other people, let lifeguards know. Let other people in the water. »WATCH: White Shark TaggingThe Shark Lab at Cal State University (CSU) Long Beach tirelessly works to research shark behavior and inform the public.Lowe said that the center has a variety of different ways to encounter the public and help them become more informed about shark activity and shark behavior. »One way is through what we call, Shark Shacks, » he said. « The Shark Shacks are pop-ups at a bunch of beaches across Southern California several times during the summer. » »We also have a big open house at the university on July 20th, which we call Sharks at the Beach, » he said. « So this is where we get to invite the community in to see the Shark Lab. »

Some Democrats call for changes to homeless camping laws as ‘uncertainty’ follows Supreme Court ruling

[ad_1]

On the heels of the Supreme Court ruling that cities can outlaw homeless camps, at least two Oregon Democrats have signaled a desire to roll back a 2021 state law limiting municipalities’ ability to ban camping on public property. »Our communities deserve streets that are safe and clean, not only for residents but also for businesses that drive our economy, » state Rep. Mark Meek said in a statement, according to the Portland Tribune. « We must reform restrictive laws… so that local communities can maintain public safety. »‘ENDLESS REVOLVING DOOR’: BLUE STATE WILL RECRIMINALIZE DRUGS, BUT ONE KEY OFFICIAL IS LOOKING FOR A LOOPHOLEIn a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court last week overturned a 9th Circuit ruling that found laws banning homeless people from sleeping in parks and on sidewalks violated the Eighth Amendment prohibition on cruel and unusual punishments. That case originated in Grants Pass, Oregon, and West Coast leaders across the political spectrum said it hamstrung efforts to clean up streets. The new ruling gives cities more options as they grapple with an unsheltered homelessness epidemic, but in Oregon, a separate state law could still tie officials’ hands. »Cities right now have been given so many different competing guidelines that there is a significant amount of uncertainty, » state Rep. Paul Evans said, according to OPB.CRISIS IN THE NORTHWEST: INSIDE ONE OF OREGON’S LARGEST HOMELESS CAMPS WITH A FORMER DRUG DEALEROregon lawmakers passed a bill in 2021 that requires local ordinances regulating sitting, lying and sleeping on public property to be « objectively reasonable as to time, place and manner. » Then-House Speaker Tina Kotek, a Democrat who is now Oregon’s governor, championed the law.Meek and Evans are among just three Democrats still serving who voted against the bill in 2021, OPB reported. After the Supreme Court’s ruling, they joined Republican minority leaders in calling for a change to the law, raising the likelihood that state lawmakers could take up the issue when they reconvene early next year. But they’d have to get more of their own party on board, and the Democratic chair of the House Housing and Homelessness Committee told OPB the existing law « struck a good balance » for cities and homeless people.Leaders like Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler disagree, arguing the word « reasonable » is too subjective.SPENDING ON HOMELESSNESS SPIKES TO A ‘SHOCKING’ AMOUNT IN PORTLAND METRO AREAUnder the state law, a judge indefinitely barred Portland from enforcing a 2023 ordinance banning people from blocking access to businesses or sidewalks with tents from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. »The term ‘reasonable’ hasn’t been defined by the legislature, and that is one thing that I would request that they do if they want to keep some time, place and manner restrictions in place — they have to define reasonable because the court refused to do it, » Wheeler told KGW. « We thought we defined reasonable. »A watered-down version of Portland’s ordinance took effect this week, but law professor Tung Yin told KOIN 6 News he expects it to be challenged again under the state law.Advocates for homeless people have already promised to do just that if Oregon cities overstep. »We intend to use that law, which is more important than ever, to protect homeless people in the state of Oregon, » Ed Johnson, lead counsel on the Grants Pass case, said in a news conference after the SCOTUS ruling. If the legislature doesn’t revisit the law, Republican attorney general candidate Will Lathrop said « legalized tent cities » will remain, and act as a magnet for other homeless people. »Not only will Oregon be unable to address our state’s widespread homelessness crisis — as other states start cleaning up their streets — I fear that we will see an influx of homeless populations flooding to Oregon where there is no accountability, » he said in a statement shared with Fox News Digital.

Dems not pushing Kamala Harris to replace Biden stoking ‘more chaos’: MSNBC analyst

[ad_1]

The Democratic Party is sowing chaos and aiding former President Trump with ongoing talks to replace President Biden with anyone other than Kamala Harris, an MSNBC analyst opined on Wednesday.Political strategist Basil Smikle appeared on a panel for « MSNBC Reports » to discuss ongoing concerns over Biden following what many considered to be a disastrous performance in his first debate against Trump.Since the debate, many mainstream media outlets and even some Democratic Party members have begun calling for Biden to step down from the race for a more viable candidate, suggesting people like California Gov. Gavin Newsom or former First Lady Michelle Obama.Smikle attacked these suggestions for ignoring Vice President Kamala Harris as an option, particularly for the impact it could have on Black voters.EX-MSNBC HOST ENDORSES KAMALA HARRIS REPLACING BIDEN ON TICKET: ‘HARRIS MAY BE OUR ONLY HOPE' »The reality is if you’re even going to have a conversation about who’s next. If Kamala Harris, the sitting vice president, is not the first and last name out of your mouth, then tell me how you’re going to get Black voters to engage when you change the rules to accommodate somebody other than her? » he said.Smikle also criticized the conversation as a whole, arguing that it stokes « more concern » for the party. »The reality is I hate this open casting call. It’s angering, » Smikle said. « I can understand acknowledging that the president didn’t have a good debate, but Democrats should be out there saying that on Joe Biden’s worst day, he is orders of magnitude better than Donald Trump on his best day. Why is that not the prevailing narrative that’s coming out of that debate? »He added, « All of this conversation to me just stokes more chaos, more concern, more uncertainty among voters and gives Donald Trump and his campaign an opening to say, ‘look at what the Democrats are doing, they don’t have it together.’ »Some media analysts and Democratic figures have endorsed Harris as a potential replacement for Biden should he step down. »This party should not, in any way, do anything to work around Ms. Harris, » Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C., told MSNBC on Tuesday.CALIFORNIA DELEGATE SAYS BLACK WOMEN WILL ‘BLOW THE PARTY UP’ IF DEMS PICK A ‘WHITE MAN OVER KAMALA HARRIS’A new national poll from CNN indicates that three-quarters of voters say the Democratic Party would have a better chance of keeping the White House with someone else other than Biden at the top of the party’s ticket. And the survey, released Tuesday by CNN, suggests that Harris performs slightly better than Biden in a match-up with Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee.CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURECLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP

Christian McCaffrey, the NFL’s reigning Offensive Player of the Year, recently tied the knot with former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo.A fashion influencer took issue with the dress Culpo wore for her wedding day, describing her Dolce & Gabbana long-sleeved ballgown as « modest. » »I’ve been a bridal creator for four years now, and I have never said this before, but I do not like this wedding dress, » influencer Kennedy Bingham, who uses the moniker Gown Eyed Girl, said in a video posted to social media. McCaffrey responded to Bingham’s commentary by slamming her for sharing an « evil » post.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM »What an evil thing to post online. I hope you can find joy and peace in the world, the way my beautiful wife does, » he commented on the Instagram reel.Bingham added that while she did not have a problem with the « simple, elegant » dress, she believed the gown had « no personality. » She captioned the video, « From Miss Universe to Miss Pick Me, Olivia Culpo is earning her crown. »49ERS’ CHRISTIAN MCCAFFREY LANDS MADDEN NFL 25 COVER, BREAKS RB COVER DROUGHT: ‘IT’S PRETTY SURREAL’Culpo later chimed in in the comment section on TikTok, calling Bingham a « bizarre human. »Bingham’s issue with Culpo’s attire seemed centered on the 32-year-old recently saying she « didn’t want (the dress) to exude sex in any way, shape or form. » Culpo told Vogue in June she hoped to be married in a dress « that felt as serious as that commitment. » »What you wear on your wedding day has almost nothing to do with whether or not you’re going to have a long and happy marriage, » Bingham argued, adding she was « pushing this idea of what all brides should look like. »In the more than five-minute video, Bingham called out Culpo for saying McCaffrey felt she was the « most beautiful » when her attire was « timeless, covered and elegant. » »I also think it’s weird how much she’s talking about coverage, especially as someone who in her day-to-day life is not a modest dresser … I just think the usage of the word ‘covered’ is so icky, because you are not covered in day-to-day life. And, also, why is he thinking you’re the most beautiful when you’re covered?
