NASA on Friday said it would be sending two astronauts on the next SpaceX mission to the International Space Station instead of the planned four so that two who remain stranded there can return in February. The agency made the decision to send the troubled Boeing Starliner that Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore previously flew to the space station in June back to Earth unmanned because the capsule has struggled with thruster troubles and helium leaks.NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Aleksandr Gorbunov, a Roscosmos cosmonaut, are expected to launch for the space station at the end of September. NASA astronauts Zena Cardman and Stephanie Wilson were cut from the mission to make room for Williams and Wilmore on the return flight. Understaffing in the Austin Police Department in Texas has left residents concerned about crime in the city. Residents in the Montopolis neighborhood in Austin’s southeast told KVUE-TV crime in their area is getting worse. Delwin Goss told the station he woke up to gunshots in the neighborhood overnight Thursday, which he said has become shockingly common. « It’s making the hair on my arms stand up. To hear eight, nine, 10 shots. Just bam, bam, bam. Where are those bullets going? » he said. ALL CRIMINAL TRESPASSING CHARGES DROPPED AGAINST ANTI-ISRAEL UT AUSTIN PROTESTERSHe said his neighbor told him she hears gunshots from her home between two to three times a week. « I don’t want to be shot sleeping in my bed, » he added. And although Austin Police told him when he called they were already investigating, he blames the department’s understaffing problem. Austin Police Association President Mike Bullock addressed the officer shortage Thursday, writing on X, « 500 officers short has a real impact on businesses and Austinites who expect to be able to safely run a business and live in Austin. We’re headed in the wrong direction. »The city reported 71 homicides in 2022, 73 in 2023 and 42 this year as of Monday, according to KXAN-TV. In February, the department said the city was experiencing roughly one murder a week, FOX 7 reported. Austin’s 89 murders in 2021 came after the Austin City Council defunded the police in 2020, which caused massive staffing shortages that prevented police from responding to non-emergency calls. Minnesota students are not meeting testing standards in three core learning categories, according to newly released state assessment data.The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) on Thursday released new data that revealed that more than half of students in the state are not meeting standards in math, reading and science. Then in 2018, she experienced paralysis on her left side due to the bleeding of a previously unknown blood tumor in her brain. She was previously training to compete as an Olympic swimmer, but her injuries put that dream out of reach. She decided to pursue the 2024 Paralympics after watching the Tokyo edition in 2021. A University of Delaware freshman, who had just finished her first day of classes on Tuesday, was killed by a speeding motorcyclist fleeing a traffic stop, police said.Noelia Gomez, 18, from Clark, New Jersey, was struck in front of her friends and classmates just before midnight.  Police identified Brian Briddle, 27, as the motorcyclist.He was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, disregarding a police officer’s signal, driving a special vehicle without a special license, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and three counts of failing to stop at a red light, Newark, Delaware, police said.DETAILS EMERGE ABOUT RICE UNIVERSITY STUDENT GUNNED DOWN ON FIRST DAY OF CLASSES IN APPARENT MURDER-SUICIDEWhen a University of Delaware police officer attempted to stop him for a traffic offense, Briddle disregarded the officer’s emergency lights and fled at a « high rate of speed, » Newark police said. Columbus Blue Jackets forward Johnny Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew, were reportedly killed in a bike accident in New Jersey on Thursday night. Tech entrepreneur John Matze said the arrest of Telegram co-founder Pavel Durov is « an existential threat to free speech » that could have global ramifications and set dangerous precedents that put freedoms at risk. « This should be a huge story. It’s part of the ongoing war on privacy and free speech, globally, » Matze told Fox News Digital. Matze pointed out that privacy is both a constitutional right for all Americans and a basic human right, and encryption and the ability to communicate with large groups of people should be included. « This is a very significant threat to both privacy and free speech, » Matze said.  FRENCH PROSECUTORS CHARGE TELEGRAM CEO PAVEL DUROV AFTER HIS RELEASE FROM CUSTODYDurov was arrested at Le Bourget airport outside Paris on Saturday as part of a sweeping investigation opened earlier this year. French prosecutors alleged that he allowed criminal activity on the messaging app, and judges ordered him to pay 5 million euros bail. Durov is barred from leaving France pending further investigation. Allegations against Durov, who is also a French citizen, include that his platform is being used for child sexual abuse material and drug trafficking, and that Telegram refused to share information or documents with investigators when required by law.The first preliminary charge against him was for  »complicity in managing an online platform to allow illicit transactions by an organized group, » a crime that can lead to sentences of up to 10 years in prison and a 500,000-euro fine, the prosecutor’s office said.Matze believes Durov, who fled Russia in 2014 after refusing to cave to the Kremlin’s censorship demands at his previous company, was targeted by the French government because he « typically does not cooperate with requests from governments for information. » Matze co-founded Parler in 2018, and the platform became popular among free speech enthusiasts until it was shut down for failing to moderate « egregious content. » He has since launched Hedgehog, a community « built for everyday Americans to get the biggest news of the day and have quality discussion about it, » and remains a staunch defender of free speech. RFK JR., ELON MUSK AND MORE REACT TO TELEGRAM CEO ARREST IN FRANCE: ‘CROSSED A RED LINE’ »In 2021, my company was deplatformed and taken offline as a result of accusations regarding content moderation, which were untrue. Here we’re seeing a repeat of these circumstances with what’s happening to Telegram, where a very reactionary group of people is putting pressure to both censor content and eradicate privacy from his platform, » Matze said. « I’m passionate about this, » he continued. « Do social media founders and do social media company owners have legal liability? And should they be responsible for what people are doing on their platform, to the extent that the accusations are saying that they should be? »Telegram, which reported 700 million monthly users in 2023, uses both artificial intelligence and human moderators to oversee public channels and groups. It is wildly popular in India, where 100 million users reside, and it is used by fewer than 10% of people in France. « This is important because in the developing world, and in places where there are current conflicts or war zones, there are features in Telegram that let you send broadcast messages out to a large audience of people. Jane. » She was also the highest-paid actress in Hollywood for a time. In 2019, she told Diane Sawyer about her « I don’t have anything to lose » mentality after she dropped out of high school and left her home as a teenager. And you said something earlier, ‘Oh, my career’s always been on fire.’ And I will tell you that’s actually not true. When I hit 40, I feel like they didn’t know what to do with me, » she said. « Now I feel like women in their 40s — it’s a shift in perception — but I was part of the transitioning crowd, and they were a bit like, ‘We don’t have anything for you.’ » Ripa said she felt Moore helped « shift the perception » that women in their 40s can still be sexy. « I don’t know if it was ‘Charlie’s Angels’ or — you know, you came out of the water in a bikini, and it was like, ‘Remember me? That’s powerful women and, in some cases, women not 30, women not 40, women in their 50s, 60s, 70s, and it’s exciting. » These days, Moore is staying busy. Aside from « The Substance, » she just finished the limited series « Feud: Capote vs. The Swans. » She was in Nicolas Cage’s 2022 « The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, » and she’s set to star in Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming drama « Landman. »
