SEAN HANNITY: Kamala Harris is a ‘blend of incompetence’ and ‘Marxist radicalism’

[ad_1]

Fox News host Sean Hannity shreds Vice President Kamala Harris’ « track record » as presidential candidate, vice president and border czar on « Hannity. » SEAN HANNITY: Kamala even got fact-checked by fake news CNN after lying about Trump’s record on manufacturing jobs. Everyone, even those who want her to win — I don’t know who they are — understand that Kamala is a terrible candidate as she was a terrible and not well-liked vice president and even a worse border czar. Her track record is bad. KAMALA HARRIS MOCKED FOR ‘INSPIRE US BY HELPING US TO BE INSPIRED’ WORD SALAD: ‘VAPIDITY UPON VAPIDITY’ Her beliefs are extreme and radical — and frankly, if implemented, dangerous. Her rambling and meaningless platitudes and bumper stickers and word salads make no sense. Kamala Harris is a danger to the entire system of governance and capitalism as we know it, a blend of incompetence and Green New Deal Marxist radicalism. CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPThe Harris campaign, meanwhile, makes little to no effort to clarify her true positions, or they just flat-out lie about what she really believes because providing taxpayer-funded sex-change operations for illegal immigrants or people in prison — that’s not a winning message.

Cowboys maintain dominance over Giants after intercepting last-second Hail Mary

[ad_1]

The Cowboys-GIants rivalry remains lopsided in favor of America’s Team. The reigning NFC East champions won their seventh game in a row against Big Blue, coming away with a 20-15 victory in New Jersey on Thursday. The Giants got on the board first with a field goal, but Dallas responded with a Rico Dowdle touchdown (that came after a holding flag was picked up), and then CeeDee Lamb scored a long touchdown. Big Blue kicked two more field goals before the end of the half to head into the locker room down, 14-9.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMThe Giants marched down the field to start the second half, but were stuffed again and forced to kick their fourth field goal of the night. Brandon Aubrey, though, answered right back with a 60-yard bomb of his own to bring Dallas back up five. The G-Men again struggled to get the ball in the end zone, as Greg Joseph knocked down his fifth field goal of the night early in the fourth. Aubrey drilled another one, though, to make it a 20-15 Dallas lead with just under seven minutes to go.BENGALS JA’MARR CHASE ‘HAVING FUN AGAIN’ AFTER DEALING WITH ‘BS’ IN THE OFFSEASONOn 4th and 6, Daniel Jones targeted Malik Nabers for the 15th time (he already had a dozen catches), but he couldn’t finish his toe-tap, and the Cowboys took over with 3:21 left. Nabers suffered a concussion on the play. Aubrey, though, missed a 51-yarder wide right, giving the Giants one more chance with 28 seconds left and no timeouts left. However, a Jones Hail Mary was intercepted, giving Dallas the victory. It’s the Cowboys’ seventh consecutive victory against New York, their 14th in their last 15 games, and their 19th in their last 23 matchups. For Dallas, it snaps a two-game losing skid, while New York has now lost three of their first four games.Entering Thursday, the Cowboys’ run defense was the worst in the league – naturally, Devin Singletary only ran for 24 yards. Nabers’ 12 catches for 115 yard led all receivers, but Lamb’s 7-98-1 came in the winning effort.Dak Prescott was 22-for-27 for 221 yards, while Jones completed 29 of his 40 passes for 281 yards – however, the Giants’ only scoring was via the field goal. The Cowboys will head to Pittsburgh next week to play the Steelers, while the Giants will also hit the road, going west to face the Seahawks.Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

The one that trusted me. Many don’t even know what it’s like to be a black women [sic] in sports when nobody believes in you. You had a tough job. All the crazy circumstances that we went through this year & when your back was against the wall, you always believed. I came to Chicago because of YOU. You were an unsung hero in my life. »Reese continued by discussing the deep relationship she developed with Weatherspoon despite only working with her for a season. « We built a relationship in a short amount of time that will last forever. I’ll never question God why he brings people in my life and takes them away from me in the capacity that I need them but i’ve always believed everyone is in your life for a reason and a season, » Reese said. « You were the best reason & season. You didn’t deserve this but I can’t thank you enough. I love you Tspoon. »While Reese quickly entered stardom in the WNBA with the Sky, averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 total rebounds per game, the Sky went 13-27 and failed to make the playoffs for the first time in five years. The Chicago Sun-Times reported Weatherspoon’s dismissal late Thursday night. So, despite winning a WNBA title in 2021, the Sky will now be searching for its fourth head coach since then. Weatherspoon was someone Sky players were publicly praising during the season, including Reese. But, according to the Chicago Sun Times, there was « disconnect » during exit interviews, and the team decided to go in a different direction. Weatherspoon starred in the WNBA herself from 1997-2004, playing all but one of her eight seasons with the New York Liberty. CNN turns over internal documents as part of high-stakes defamation suit

[ad_1]

FIRST ON FOX – CNN on Thursday night handed over a batch of internal documents to the legal team representing U.S. Navy veteran Zachary Young in a high-stakes defamation lawsuit against the news organization, Fox News Digital has learned. Young alleges that CNN smeared his security consulting company, Nemex Enterprises Inc., by implying it illegally profited when helping people flee Afghanistan during the Biden administration’s military withdrawal from the country in 2021. Young believes CNN « destroyed his reputation and business by branding him an illegal profiteer who exploited desperate Afghans » during a Nov. 11, 2021, segment on CNN’s « The Lead with Jake Tapper. » The document production comes after Judge William Henry agreed with Young’s lead counsel Vel Freedman that CNN should hand over sensitive financial information that the cable network presented to its parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery, in order to determine CNN’s net worth. CNN’s legal team turned over a batch of documents that the plaintiff’s legal team argued are relevant to determine the company’s ability to pay before Thursday’s midnight deadline, according to a source close to the case.Freedman confirmed he received the documents but declined further comment when reached by Fox News Digital. CNN did not immediately respond to a request for comment. DEFAMATION LAWSUIT AGAINST CNN COULD EXPOSE COMPANY’S FINANCIAL SECRETS AS COURT SEEKS TO EXPOSE NET WORTHThe CNN segment at the center of the suit, which was shared on social media and also repackaged for CNN’s website, began with Tapper informing viewers that CNN correspondent Alex Marquardt discovered « Afghans trying to get out of the country face a black market full of promises, demands of exorbitant fees, and no guarantee of safety or success. »Tapper tossed to Marquardt, who said « desperate Afghans are being exploited » and need to pay « exorbitant, often impossible amounts » to flee the country. Marquardt then singled out Young, putting a picture of his face on the screen and saying his company was asking for $75,000 to transport a vehicle of passengers to Pakistan for $14,500 per person to end up in the United Arab Emirates. »Prices well beyond the reach of most Afghans, » Marquardt told viewers. « We got Young’s number and called, but he didn’t pick up. In a text message, he told CNN that ‘Afghans trying to leave are expected to have sponsors pay for them. If someone reached out, we need to understand if they have a sponsor behind them to be able to pay evacuation costs which are highly volatile and based on environmental realities,’ » Marquardt continued. « Young repeatedly declined to break down the cost or say if he’s making money. » No other people or companies were named other than Young. « In another message, that person offering those evacuations, Zachary Young, he wrote, ‘Availability is extremely limited and demand is high’… he goes on to say, ‘That’s how economics works, unfortunately,’ » Marquardt told viewers.Tapper responded, « Unfortunately, hmm, » before thanking Marquardt for the report. CNN FACES DEFAMATION SUIT OVER AFGHANISTAN WITHDRAWAL STORY: ‘EVIDENCE OF ACTUAL MALICE’Young alleged that CNN, using the terms « black market, » « exploit » and « exorbitant, » painted him as a bad actor preying on desperate people. Earlier this year, judges with the First District Court of Appeal for the State of Florida ruled on June 12 that Young offered enough evidence that he was able to move forward with the defamation suit. »Young sufficiently proffered evidence of actual malice, express malice, and a level of conduct outrageous enough to open the door for him to seek punitive damages, » the court document states. « Whether Young can ultimately prevail is not the issue before us. »The judges wrote, « Young proffered CNN messages and emails that showed internal concern about the completeness and veracity of the reporting — the story is ‘a mess,’ ‘incomplete,’ not ‘fleshed out for digital,’ ‘the story is 80% emotion, 20% obscured fact,’ and ‘full of holes like Swiss cheese,’ » but the network aired it anyway. « Young also proffered a message exchange he had with Marquardt just hours before publication where he advised there were factual inaccuracies in the reporting. CNN published anyway, » the judges wrote, adding that other internal communications show CNN staffers « had little regard » for Young and used profanities and disparaging language when privately discussing him. »Marquardt referred to him as ‘f—ing Young’ and quipped, ‘it’s your funeral, bucko,' » according to the court document. »On appeal, CNN argues it did not intend to harm; its language was either opinion or ambiguous; and the internal communications were journalistic bravado that reflected a sincere belief in the reporting, » the judges wrote. A civil trial is scheduled to begin on Jan. 6, 2025, in front of Judge Henry in the Circuit Court for Bay County, Florida.

Giant Joro ‘flying’ spider continues march northward with Massachusetts sighting

[ad_1]

A palm-sized, brightly colored invasive species has made its way to Massachusetts – with one being spotted in Boston’s historic Beacon Hill neighborhood. According to WCVB, resident Joe Schifferdecker recently spotted the distinctive bright-yellow bands on the spider’s black legs in his neighborhood. »It’s surprising that it’s in the middle of Boston on [a] main street and yet this is supposedly the first one in all of Massachusetts that’s been sighted, » Schifferdecker told the outlet. LARGEST MALE SPECIMEN OF WORLD’S MOST VENOMOUS SPIDER DISCOVERED IN AUSTRALIAEarlier in the summer, scientists warned that the invasive species could make its move from the South into the Northeast. The Joro spider’s Boston appearance this week is its northernmost sighting.THE JORO SPIDER IS SPREADING IN THE US, BUT IT’S NOT THE INVASIVE SPECIES WE HAVE TO WORRY ABOUTBut spider experts say people shouldn’t be too worried about the venomous East Asian arthropod, which gives an illusion of « flying » through the air with its elaborate silk webs. »My sense is people like the weird and fantastic and potentially dangerous, » said David Nelsen, a professor of biology at Southern Adventist University who has studied the growing range of Joro spiders, which has been on the move in the U.S. for the last decade. « This is one of those things that sort of checks all the boxes for public hysteria. »The Joro spider is one of a group of spiders called orb-weavers, named for their wheel-shaped webs. They’re native to East Asia, have bright yellow and black coloring and females can be three to six inches long when fully stretched out, and are double the size of males. They pose no threat to humans.Adult Joro spiders are usually spotted between August and September. For more Lifestyle articles, visit foxnews.com/lifestyle

Trump predicted NYC Mayor Adams would be indicted last year; blames ‘dirty players’ in DOJ

[ad_1]

Former President Trump said he predicted New York City Mayor Eric Adams would be indicted within a year, while calling on the need for an honest Justice Department.Trump spoke to reporters inside Trump Tower in New York City on Thursday afternoon, and afterward fielded several questions on topics such as the war in Ukraine, Iran and the indictment of Adams, who was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury on federal criminal charges Wednesday following a campaign corruption investigation.A reporter asked if Trump thought Adams would get a fair trial, and Trump responded that he did not know.Trump said that he did not know Adams very well, even acknowledging that the current mayor has been generous toward Trump in his statements. The « worst mayor ever, » Trump claimed, was former Mayor Bill de Blasio, who served the term prior to Adams.NEW YORK CITY MAYOR ERIC ADAMS INDICTED »I will say this. I watched about a year ago when [Adams] talked about how the illegal migrants are hurting our city, and the federal government should pay us and we shouldn’t have to take them, » Trump said. « I said, ‘You know what? He’ll be indicted within a year.’ And I was exactly right because that’s what we have. »We have people that use the Justice Department and the FBI at levels that have never been seen before, » Trump added, wishing Adams luck.Trump admitted he did not know anything about what Adams did to get indicted, but a group in the room told Trump he was right about his prediction.FBI RAIDS HOME OF NYC MAYOR ERIC ADAMS’ CHIEF FUNDRAISER BRIANNA SUGGS, SOURCE SAYSOn Wednesday, the mayor was indicted on one count of conspiracy to receive campaign contributions from foreign nationals and commit wire fraud and bribery, and one count of wire fraud, two counts of soliciting campaign contributions from foreign nationals, and one count of soliciting and accepting a bribe. But Trump continued to speak about the immigration problem that Adams spoke ill of, and called on federal officials to pay New York City to handle. »He said this is really unfair to make us carry this burden. We shouldn’t be doing this This is New York City, » Trump said.ADAMS OFFICE LASHES OUT AT FBI EMPLOYEE WHO MIGHT HAVE ‘IMPROPERLY LEAKED DETAILS’ OF CORRUPTION PROBEThe parks are loaded up, Trump, a former city resident, said, adding that he recently passed the Roosevelt Hotel, and it was unrecognizable. »He came out very strongly against it. He was right, by the way, because it’s ruining our country, » he said. « He was honest, and I said he will be indicted within a year. And that’s what happened. »Trump said the indictments go back a long time, comparing it to when he was indicted in New York City. The prosecution made sure the charges happened before the statute of limitations in both cases, Trump noted, wishing him well. »That’s what they do. These are dirty players. These are bad people, » Trump said. « They cheat and they do anything necessary. These are bad people. And we need an honest Justice Department. We need an honest FBI, and we need it fast. »ADAMS OFFICE LASHES OUT AT FBI EMPLOYEE WHO MIGHT HAVE ‘IMPROPERLY LEAKED DETAILS’ OF CORRUPTION PROBEThe FBI has reportedly been looking into whether Adams’ 2021 mayoral campaign conspired with the Turkish government and other entities to raise funds. Some New York officials have also been probed over potential investigations into contacts with China. The alleged fraud sucked in more public funding for the mayor’s campaign under a program that supplements small-dollar donations with matching grants of up to $2,000 supported by taxpayers, according to the indictment. According to court documents, a donation of just $250 from an individual could send a candidate up to $2,000 in « matching funds » from taxpayers. It happened so frequently that Adams allegedly received $10 million from the program. On top of campaign donations, Adams allegedly received other perks like free flights on Turkish Airlines to destinations in Europe and Asia, free hotel stays and free high-end meals. In one instance, he allegedly asked about flying to Chile’s Easter Island on a Turkish jet – but he couldn’t because it did not offer a route connecting New York and the South American country.Fox News Digital’s Michael Ruiz contributed to this report.

Richard Simmons’ family hits back after longtime housekeeper files to be reinstated as co-trustee of estate

[ad_1]

Richard Simmons’ family slammed his longtime housekeeper’s petition to be reinstated as a co-trustee on the fitness star’s estate as « greed. »The family fought back after Teresa Reveles claimed she had been pressured into signing documents removing her as a co-trustee. »Richard’s message was always one of joy and positivity. He would be heartbroken to learn of Teresa’s greed and the way in which she has insulted and publicly diminished their supposed three decades of friendship, » the family’s spokesperson Tom Estey told Fox News Digital in a statement. « Her actions threaten to harm Richard’s incredible legacy, which we are working hard to preserve. » »Richard took impeccable care of Teresa and made sure even after his passing that she was well taken care of. She is a significant beneficiary of his will. She made an informed decision to decline to serve as co-trustee of the estate, which does not affect her status as a beneficiary at all. »RICHARD SIMMONS’ BROTHER SAYS FITNESS ICON DIED FROM ‘RECENT FALLS, HEART DISEASE' »The allegations in the petition are completely and demonstrably false, and we have informed her counsel of those facts. Teresa’s request to be reinstated as co-trustee was declined because co-trustees must work together in the best interests of the estate, and Teresa has shown by her actions that she does not share those interests. Even now, two months after he died, she is staying in his house, even though she has her own residence, and she has attempted to charge the estate for her living expenses. New York Appeals Court appears receptive to reversing or reducing $454M Trump civil fraud judgment

[ad_1]

Judges on a New York appeals court were open-minded and receptive to the possibility of reversing or reducing the $454 million civil fraud judgment in New York Attorney General Letitia James’ lawsuit against former President Trump. Trump appealed the civil fraud ruling that demanded he pay more than $450 million. The former president’s attorneys called New York Judge Arthur Engoron’s ruling « draconian, unlawful, and unconstitutional. »  TRUMP’S $454M JUDGMENT BOND SLASHED BY MORE THAN HALF IN APPEALS COURT RULINGEngoron ruled that Trump and other defendants were liable for persistent and repeated fraud, falsifying business records, issuing false financial statements, conspiracy to falsify false financial statements, insurance fraud and conspiracy to commit insurance fraud. A five-judge panel on a New York appeals court in Manhattan Thursday heard oral arguments on the appeal. The former president did not attend oral arguments Thursday but was instead represented by his legal team.Trump attorney D. John Sauer argued that James’ lawsuit stretched New York consumer protection laws and said there were « no victims » and « no complaints » of Trump’s business from lenders and insurers. Sauer said the cause « involves a clear cut violation of the statute of limitations, » pointing to transactions used in the non-jury civil fraud trial that dated back more than a decade. TRUMP VOWS TO FIGHT NEW YORK AG CASE ‘ALL THE WAY UP TO THE US SUPREME COURT,’ AS DEADLINE TO POST $454M LOOMSSauer said that if the verdict is not overturned, « people can’t do business in real estate » without fear. The Appellate Division typically rules about a month after arguments are complete, meaning a final decision could come before Election Day on Nov. 5. Judge Peter H. Moulton questioned if James’ lawsuit turned into « something it was not meant to do. » Moulton said the « immense penalty in this case is troubling. »But the state argued that there is evidence to support the verdict. TRUMP BARRED FROM OPERATING BUSINESS, ORDERED TO PAY OVER $350 MILLION IN NY CIVIL FRAUD CASEIn September 2023, before the non-jury trial began, Engoron ruled that Trump and the Trump Organization had committed fraud while building his real estate empire by deceiving banks, insurers and others by overvaluing his assets and exaggerating his net worth on paperwork used in making deals and securing financing.Trump was hit with an initial penalty of $355 million. That sum is quickly increasing via interest accruals of approximately $112,000 a day until paid in full, now sitting around $470 million.Trump, the 2024 presumptive GOP presidential nominee, and his legal team had appealed and requested a stay on his $454 million civil fraud judgment. Trump’s legal team said the initial requested bond was « unprecedented for a private company, » and said to post it in the judgment’s full amount was a « practical impossibility. » An appeals court slashed former President Trump’s bond payment in March, and the former president paid $175 million. Trump has vowed to fight the case « all the way up to the U.S. Supreme Court if necessary. » Trump and his family denied any wrongdoing, with the former president saying his assets had been undervalued. Trump’s legal team insisted that his financial statements had disclaimers, and made it clear to banks that they should conduct their own assessments.Throughout the trial, Trump attorneys brought witnesses, including former Deutsche Bank top executives, who testified the banks sought additional business from Trump, whom they viewed as a « whale of a client. »Trump’s defense also brought in expert witnesses, including New York University accounting professor Eli Bartov, who reviewed the Trump financial statements at issue in the case and said he found no evidence of accounting fraud.Bartov testified last month that Trump’s financial statements did not violate accounting principles, and he suggested that anything problematic – like a huge year-to-year leap in the estimated value of his Trump Tower penthouse – was simply an error. »My main finding is that there is no evidence whatsoever of any accounting fraud, » Bartov testified. Trump’s financial statements, he said, « were not materially misstated. »The Associated Press contributed to this report.

White House grilled on Harris’ gun ownership, mandatory gun buybacks

[ad_1]

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Thursday declined to answer questions on Vice President Harris’ gun ownership and previous support of a mandatory gun-buyback program when announcing that President Biden would sign new executive action to address gun violence. The Harris campaign has not responded to multiple requests this week from Fox News Digital seeking answers on what type of gun Harris owns, in what state the vice president is registered and when she last went to a gun range. More than two weeks have passed since Harris declared that she and her vice presidential running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, are gun owners, at the ABC News Presidential Debate in Philadelphia. Jean-Pierre said at the White House press briefing that Biden and Harris would be holding an event announcing new executive action to combat the gun violence epidemic. In a press release, the White House said that Biden and Harris would announce a new executive order « directing federal agencies to improve school-based active shooter drills and combat the emerging threats of machinegun-conversion devices and unserialized, 3D-printed firearms, as well as additional executive actions that advance the Biden-Harris Administration’s agenda to reduce gun violence and save lives. » « On the gun event today, what kind of gun does the vice president have? And when did she buy it? » Fox News White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich asked at the briefing. »That’s something for her office to speak to, » Jean-Pierre shot back. HARRIS CAMPAIGN WON’T GIVE DETAILS ON TYPE OF GUN SHE OWNS, LAST TIME SHE WENT TO RANGEHarris told former President Trump to « stop with the continuous lying » after he claimed the Democratic presidential nominee « has a plan to confiscate everybody’s gun. » She vowed on the debate stage that « we’re not taking anybody’s guns away. » But while serving as San Francisco district attorney in 2005, Harris supported Proposition H, which would have banned handguns within city limits and would have required that residents turn in the handguns that they already owned by a certain deadline or face mandatory jail time, Heinrich noted, asking again Thursday whether the White House would give details on Harris’ gun ownership. « So can the White House get us an answer on that? Because she hasn’t, and her campaign officials also haven’t answered that question, even on television, » Heinrich said. « When it comes to the VP and owning a gun, she can speak for herself. The campaign could speak for that. Her office can speak for that. I’m not – that’s for them to speak to, » Jean-Pierre said. « There is no conflict here when we’re saying that we want to see responsible gun ownership. That’s what we want to see. Responsible gun ownership. I think that is what’s important here. » Decrying gun violence as « an epidemic in our country, » she continued: « Think about our schools, our grocery stores. It’s an epidemic. We have done the work. We have seen violent crimes go down because of the work that this president and this vice president has done. There is an office to prevent gun violence. And that is something that she leads. »HARRIS SURPRISES SOCIAL MEDIA BY SAYING SHE’S A GUN OWNER »We’re asking for responsible gun ownership. That’s what we want to see. That’s what’s important here. And if people don’t, don’t want to, don’t understand that, I don’t know how to further even explain that to them, » she said. « Our kids, our schools. There’s an epidemic here. There’s an epidemic. There are drills happening in our schools right now. That’s something that the president’s going to speak to that is traumatizing some of our kids because of this epidemic. And so that should be the focus. How do we make sure that we end this epidemic? We want to see responsible gun ownership. That’s what we want to see. » Heinrich noted that the question was not about responsible gun ownership. She reiterated that she asked about a measure Harris supported « that would have required that non-law enforcement or military residents of the city turn in their handguns – so, no gun ownership, or face possible mandatory jail time versus what she’s saying now and then also not answering the question of her gun ownership. » Clips have also surfaced of Harris, while San Francisco’s district attorney, telling legal gun owners then that « just because you legally possess a gun in the sanctity of your locked home doesn’t mean we’re not gonna walk into that home and check to see if you’re being responsible and safe in the way you conduct your affairs, » while speaking about the proposal. « Again, that’s something that she’s going to have to speak to, » Jean-Pierre said. « What I can speak to, this moment in this time, what we’ve been trying to do for the last three and a half years is making sure that we are dealing with an epidemic that is existing in our communities, that we see in our schools, that we see in, in grocery stores. It is an epidemic here. And what we’re trying to do is prevent gun violence. » CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP »And we have seen that go down. We have, because of this work, because of the executive actions, because of a bipartisan legislation that was able to be done under this administration to deal with gun violence, something that we hadn’t seen in 30 years. So there is some bipartisan support here to deal with a responsible way of having gun ownership. We need to do more here. We need to do more, » she said.

Tom Brady partners with Abbott, Big Ten Conference to tackle blood shortage in US in ‘really unique’ way

[ad_1]

Tom Brady loves some good competition, especially when it involves his alma mater, the University of Michigan. He loves it even more when it has an important impact on our country, too. Brady has teamed up with Abbott, the multinational medical devices and health care company, and the Big Ten Conference for their first-of-its-kind We Give Blood Drive, a nationwide blood donation competition among all 18 schools in the conference that will help tackle a health problem in the United States.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM »We’re at a huge blood shortage in the U.S., and for every blood donation, you can save up to three lives, » Brady told Fox News Digital Thursday. « I think that’s the important part. Sometimes, we take for granted the little things that make big impacts, and this is one of them. »Brady said he has been a blood donor since his freshman year of high school because he knows how far just one donation can go. Blood donations are needed for a wide variety of reasons, whether it’s trauma and accident victims, women dealing with childbirth complications or individuals going through cancer treatments. And young donors are the key because fewer and fewer under the age of 25 have been volunteering to give blood. TOM BRADY DETAILS RIGOROUS WORKOUT ROUTINE: ‘COLOR ANALYSTS HAVE TO STAY IN SHAPE TOO!’To reignite interest, there are 1 million reasons to engage in this blood drive across the 18 college campuses in the Big Ten. There’s also a chance to win two tickets and a trip to the Big Ten Football championship game. The way the We Give Blood Drive initiative works is students, alumni and fans of the 18 schools involved will see mobile blood drives on campuses throughout the college football season, from Sept. 26 through Dec. 6. Those who wish to donate can also go to any center across the country and show proof of donation, and everyone will receive a one-month free subscription to B1G+, the conference’s streaming service. The school credited with donating the most blood — each donation counts for one point — will receive a $1 million donation to advance student or community health. Brady will be pulling for his Wolverines to win this competition, but, rivalries aside, he knows this is a special way of helping so many in our communities. « I love that people are trying to do positive things and find really unique ways and strategies to create awareness. Abbott partnering with the Big Ten and really making it a competition, all the students can all participate, and they give back to the school when the team competes and when they win. It’s just very creative. It’s very thoughtful. It’s a fun way to do good things in our communities and just happy to partner with Abbott and the Big Ten to do it. »Robert B. Ford, chariman and CEO of Abbott, added, « The U.S. continues to experience ongoing blood shortages, and we knew as a leader in diagnostics and testing we had to do something powerful to draw in donors. What better way to inspire people to donate than tapping into rivalries between Big Ten schools and offering up a friendly competition. It’s our hope we’ll give the blood supply a significant boost while inspiring a future generation of blood donors. »As the competition gets underway, donations will be tracked live at BigTen.org/Abbott.Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Georgia voter tells CNN she’s thinking of voting Republican for first time in her life

[ad_1]

A Georgia voter told CNN during a recent interview that she was considering voting Republican for the first time in her life, as Vice President Kamala Harris attempts to duplicate President Biden’s 2020 support in the state. »I’ve been a Democrat my entire adult life, » Chantá Villano-Willis, a resident of a majority Black community in Cobb County, told CNN. « This has actually been the first year where I was considering voting Republican. »She said of her mother, « (She) never thought she’d see a Black person president in her life. No, » Cavaliere said of Harris, despite conceding the vice president won her debate against Trump. « Right now, I am not settling and am not pleased with the choices. »Christine Nguyen, who plans to vote for Harris and owns a small business in Decatur, told CNN that the economy could be a problem for Harris’ chances. « That comes up very often, » she told King. « I hear it a lot, even in my family of entrepreneurs, it comes up every now and then, right, that Trump just knows business better, that he’s, you know, more savvy. … But I think at the end of the day, it’s what you value and, like, what your beliefs are in terms of your ethics. »CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTUREShe said Harris’ connection to the Biden administration could hurt her chances. »It definitely has hurt our business in the past couple of months, seeing the prices go up for our supplies, and us not being able to adjust the prices accordingly, » Nguyen said. « I think that could highly impact her chances, because she has been part of the administration in the past four years. »Trump currently holds a 4 point lead in Georgia over Harris, according to a recent poll.

Japanese court acquits longest-serving death row inmate in 1966 quadruple murder case

[ad_1]

A Japanese court found an 88-year-old former boxer not guilty on Thursday after a retrial for a 1966 quadruple murder, reversing a decision that made him the world’s longest-serving death row inmate.Iwao Hakamada’s acquittal by the Shizuoka District Court makes him the fifth death row inmate to be found not guilty in a retrial in postwar Japan, where prosecutors have a more than 99% conviction rate. The case could rekindle a debate around abolishing the death penalty in Japan. The court found that evidence was fabricated and planted by investigators and that Hakamada was not the culprit, his lawyer Hideyo Ogawa said.MAN GETS $300K SETTLEMENT AFTER WRONGFUL ACCUSATION; COPS CHANGE FACIAL RECOGNITION TECHNOLOGYAfter the ruling and an explanation were read out, his 91-year-old sister Hideko Hakamada walked out of the courthouse with a big smile, welcomed by cheers and two big bouquets of flowers to celebrate the acquittal of her brother after the 58-year legal battle. »Thank you, everyone, we won an acquittal, » she told a televised news conference. « When I heard the main sentence, it sounded almost divine. I was so touched and could not stop crying with joy. »Hakamada was convicted of murder in the 1966 killing of an executive and three of his family members, and setting fire to their home in central Japan. He was sentenced to death in 1968, but was not executed due to the lengthy appeal and retrial process in Japan’s notoriously slow-paced criminal justice system. He spent 48 years behind bars — more than 45 of them on death row — making him the world’s longest-serving death row inmate, according to Amnesty International.UK TO OVERTURN CONVICTIONS FOR HUNDREDS OF POSTAL WORKERS WRONGLY ACCUSED OF FRAUDOgawa said he asked the prosecutors not to appeal the case, as is possible, but was told they have not yet decided what to do.The lawyer also said the defense team is considering filing a lawsuit against the government, in part to learn more about the troubled investigation. If prosecutors do not appeal and his acquittal is finalized, Hakamada would be entitled to seek compensation. It took 27 years for the top court to deny his first appeal for retrial. His second appeal for a retrial was filed in 2008 by his sister. That request was granted in 2014, when a court ruled there was evidence suggesting he was wrongly accused. He was not cleared of the conviction, but he was released from prison and allowed to await retrial at home because his poor health and age made him a low risk for escape. But the case continued to bounce among several courts, until one finally ruled in his favor in 2023, paving the way for the latest retrial that began in October.Following his arrest, Hakamada initially denied the accusations, but then confessed. He later said his confession was forced during a violent interrogation by police.CALIFORNIA MAN WRONGLY CONVICTED FOR RAPE RELEASED AFTER 28 YEARS IN PRISON: ‘GRAVE INJUSTICE' »I have nothing to do with the case … I am innocent, » he wrote in his letter to his mother while on trial in 1967.On Thursday, the court concluded that five pieces of bloodstained clothing that investigators claimed to have found hidden in a tank of fermented soybean paste, or miso, a year after Hakamada’s arrest must have been put there long after the arrest. The court cited scientific experiments that showed the bloodstains should not have been visible on clothing soaked in miso for a year. The ruling concluded that investigators, who had said Hakamada wore the clothes during the crime, had applied the bloodstains themselves and planted the clothing.According to defense lawyers and earlier court rulings, the blood samples did not match Hakamada’s DNA, and trousers that prosecutors submitted as evidence were too small for him.Thursday’s ruling also blamed the prosecutors for forcing Hakamada into a false confession because of an « inhumane » interrogation.Ogawa, Hakamada’s lawyer, praised the ruling as « groundbreaking » for clearly stating that the prosecution fabricated key evidence at the beginning. « I believe this ruling puts an end to the case. … Now we must prevent prosecutors from appealing no matter what. »WRONGFULLY CONVICTED MAN WALKS FREE AFTER MORE THAN 2 DECADES AS PODCAST SHED LIGHT ON HIS MURDER CASEAfter Hakamada was sentenced to death, he expressed fear and anger at being falsely accused. »When I go to sleep in a soundless solitary cell every night, I sometimes cannot help cursing God. I have not done anything wrong, » he wrote to his family. « What a cold-blooded act to inflict such cruelty on me. »Hakamada, whose Christian name is Paulo, was invited to a Mass in Tokyo during Pope Francis’ visit in 2019, five years after his release.Supporters say Hakamada’s nearly half-century detention took a toll on his mental health. Most of his 48 years behind bars was spent in solitary confinement. The first two months after Hakamada’s release, he kept pacing inside the apartment, without even trying to go outside, his sister said. One day, she asked him to help her with groceries to get him to agree to leave the house. Going out for a walk then became his daily routine, though today he is less able and he goes out by car, assisted by his supporters. The case has drawn attention to and criticism of Japan’s legal system. Japan Bar Association Chairperson Reiko Fuchigami urged the government and parliament on Thursday to promptly take steps to abolish the death penalty and lower hurdles for retrials. »The Hakamada case clearly shows the cruelty of the wrongful death penalty, and the tragedy should never be repeated, » she said, expressing hope that Hakamada truly regains his freedom and lives in serenity as a citizen.CHICAGO MAN WRONGFULLY CONVICTED FOR MURDER AWARDED $50M AFTER SUING CITY, POLICE DETECTIVESAt a final hearing at the Shizuoka court in May before Thursday’s decision, prosecutors again demanded the death penalty, triggering criticism from rights groups that prosecutors were trying to prolong the trial.Japan and the United States are the only two countries in the Group of Seven advanced nations that retain capital punishment. A survey by the Japanese government showed an overwhelming majority of the public supports executions.Executions are carried out in secrecy in Japan and prisoners are not informed of their fate until the morning they are hanged. In 2007, Japan began disclosing the names of those executed and some details of their crimes, but disclosures are still limited.Hideko Hakamada has devoted around half of her life to her brother’s case. Before Thursday’s ruling, she said she was in a never-ending battle. »It is so difficult to get a retrial started, » She told reporters in Tokyo. « I’m sure there are other people who have been wrongly accused and crying. … I want the criminal law revised so that retrials are more easily available. »

CNN host Kasie Hunt says Harris is ‘Republican’ and Trump is ‘liberal’ on their economic policies

[ad_1]

CNN host Kasie Hunt argued on Thursday that Vice President Kamala Harris’ policies on the economy appeared « Republican » and that former President Trump’s seemed « liberal. »Wall Street Journal reporter Annie Linskey began the « CNN This Morning » panel discussion by saying that both Trump and Harris were focusing on investing in manufacturing and industrial policy. « What Annie just said is in fact correct, but it does in fact sound like Harris is the Republican in this scenario and Donald Trump is the liberal in terms of the nature of the policies, » Hunt said in response. Harris delivered a policy speech at The Economic Club of Pittsburgh on Wednesday and Harris emphasized her « middle-class upbringing. » She said she wanted to « build a strong middle-class, » with proposals she’s rolled out in recent weeks like increasing the tax break for new small businesses and giving a $25,000 credit to first-time homebuyers.HARRIS DODGES QUESTIONS ON LOWERING PRICES BY DESCRIBING ‘MIDDLE-CLASS’ ROOTS: NEIGHBORS ‘PROUD OF THEIR LAWN’Hunt pointed to Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., who took aim at Trump’s tariff proposals after Trump said on Tuesday during a rally in Pennsylvania that he would put a 200% tariff on John Deere if they move production of skid steer loaders and compact track loaders to an existing facility in Mexico.Trump has called for steeper tariffs on China and other countries and has said he wants to slash the corporate tax rate on companies that produce their products in the U.S. « The one thing when we talk about tariffs, we have to remember, he‘s talking about free and fair trade, reciprocal trade, » The America First Policy Institute’s Marc Lotter told the CNN panel on Thursday. « He will talk about tariffs if a country is not treating us fairly. » Harris spoke about lowering costs, investing in American innovation and entrepreneurship, and leading global competitors in the industries of the future during her speech in Pennsylvania.CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURE »I think that the challenge in what he’s talking about is, you know, tariffs can work if it’s very strategic, he’s not talking about them in a very strategic way. It’s much more of a like, ‘What audience am I talking to? Okay, you get something, you get something,’ and think about if you think about 200% tariff on John Deere, that’s a tax on farmers, people who really cannot handle more taxes. He talked about tariffs in a way that doesn‘t actually clarify that the companies pay the tariff, which means they pass on the cost to us, » liberal CNN commentator Karen Finney said. During Harris’ speech on Wednesday, the vice president said that during Trump’s four years in the White House, « [M]anufacturing jobs went down across our country and across our economy. All told, almost 200,000 manufacturing jobs were lost during his presidency, starting before the pandemic hit, making Trump one of the biggest losers ever on manufacturing. »The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital. Fox News’ Kristine Parks and Paul Steinhauser contributed to this report.

Ancient Roman gold and silver coins discovered with metal detector make impressive showing at auction

[ad_1]

Discovering ancient treasure resulted in a major payday for the lucky finder. A 34-year-old archaeologist named George Ridgway found a collection of more than 680 gold and silver coins with his metal detector in September 2019, according to a press release from Noonans Mayfair, the London-based auction house responsible for the sale of the coins. The coins were discovered with a metal detector in the grounds of Helmingham Hall near Stowmarket in Suffolk.ARCHAEOLOGISTS DISCOVER UNIQUE ARTWORK IN ENGLAND DATING BACK TO THE EARLY 2ND CENTURY »It was on September 8th, 2019, that I decided to investigate an unusual crop mark in a recently harvested barley field in Suffolk with my Garrett AT Pro metal detector. I knew that a Roman road ran close to the field and was hoping the two might be related, but after scouring the area nothing turned up, » Ridgway said prior to the sale, per the press release. No immediate luck didn’t turn away Ridgway. He moved just 30 yards from where he was, where he uncovered two Roman brooches that dated back to the mid first century A.D. His detector went off again, and he found a silver coin issued by Julius Caesar from 46 B.C., according to the press release. »I couldn’t believe that over the next 3 hours of searching, I found 160 more Roman silver coins, with a few of the coins stuck to pottery fragments. I knew I had made an important archaeological discovery and called my dad to guard the site overnight while we waited for an archaeological team to arrive and excavate the site. It took three months to recover the hoard, » Ridgway went on to say. 12-YEAR-OLD BOY STUMBLES UPON STUNNING ANCIENT FIND WHILE WALKING DOG IN ENGLAND: ‘RELATIVELY RARE’Through further excavation, « Iron Age gold coins of Cunobelin, the king of the Catuvellauni and Trinovantes tribes started appearing, » Ridgway said, per the press release. The collection of coins dates back as early as 206 B.C. up to the emperor Claudius in 46-47 A.D.The find was a remarkable one for Ridgway, who said in the press release that he was inspired at a young age to « start history hunting » by Indiana Jones. Ever since he was gifted a metal detector by his grandmother when he was 12, finding a Roman hoard has always been on his mind. When he finally detected Roman gold and silver coins, he called the moment « awe-inspiring. » »We are very pleased with the result of todays (sic) sale. This is one of the largest hoards containing both Iron Age coins and Roman coins found in Britain, with the latest coins of Claudius and those of Cunobelin in virtually as struck condition, » said Alice Cullen, coin specialist at Noonans, per the press release.ARCHAEOLOGISTS FIND SEVERAL ROCK CARVINGS OF ANCIENT BOARD GAME DATING BACK 4,000 YEARSSixty-three of the coins collected went to the British Museum and the Colchester & Ipswich Museum for their own collections. The coins up for auction were estimated to bring in £75,000 (about $100,000), but they ended up selling for even more. The total amount brought in during the Sept. 18 auction of the coins was £132,865 (about $177,000), Noonans announced in the press release. The money earned at the auction is being split between the landowner and Ridgway, according to Noonans. When asked what he was going to do with the money, Ridgway told Noonans, « I would like to buy my dad a pint! »

[ad_1]

NBC’s « Today » co-anchor Hoda Kotb announced she would exit the program early next year during a tearful segment on Thursday. NBC’s « Today » crew gathered on the on-set couch as Kotb shared the news that she would walk away from the Comcast-owned network’s flagship morning program in order to spend more time with her family. « So, I was doing the math and I realized that I have spent 26 years at NBC, » Kotb said as she began to tear up and reminded herself to « be cool. »MSNBC’S STEPHANIE RUHLE CALLS OUT HARRIS FOR DODGING HOW SHE’D RAISE TAXES: ‘SHE DOESN’T ANSWER THE QUESTION' »I just turned 60, and it was such a monumental moment for me, when I turned 60 years old, because I started thinking about that decade… I realized that it was time for me to turn the page at 60 and to try something new, » she continued. « This is the right time for me to, kind of, move on. »Kotb then explained that she wanted to spend more time with her young children, who she said she had later in life. « They deserve a bigger piece of my time pie that I have, » Kotb said. « With all that being said, this is the hardest thing in the world, » she added. « It’s kind of a big deal for me… I’ve been practicing so I wouldn’t cry, but anyway, I did. »FORMER ‘TODAY’ ANCHOR ANN CURRY STILL DOESN’T KNOW WHY NBC NEWS FIRED HERKotb, who said she would « stay in the NBC family, » previously worked on NBC’s « Dateline » and hosted the fourth hour of « Today » with Kathie Lee Gifford and then Jenna Bush Hager before permanently landing the co-anchor gig alongside Savannah Guthrie after longtime host Matt Lauer was fired over sexual misconduct violations.Kotb famously sat by Guthrie during the 2017 bombshell announcement that Lauer had been terminated. Kotb helped « Today » get through the Lauer firing, filling his chair on an interim basis before being named his permanent replacement weeks later. It is unclear who will replace Kotb in early 2025.

Task force on Trump assassination attempts to hold first House hearing Thursday

[ad_1]

The House task force investigating the assassination attempts against former President Trump is holding its first hearing Thursday. »They’ve done a lot of work behind the scenes. They’ve interviewed dozens of witnesses. They gathered thousands of documents. They’ve been doing the work to lead up to the hearing, and I know there’ll be a lot of interest in that, » House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., said Tuesday. »The American people desire and deserve answers, and the task force is working around the clock to deliver them. »TRUMP ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT IN FLORIDA: SECRET SERVICE ‘REDLINES,’ PENNSYLVANIA TASK FORCE SAYSThe task force was assembled after unanimous approval in the House, a rare feat in today’s partisan environment. Its scope was just expanded last week after a foiled second alleged attempt on Trump’s life, this time while the ex-president was golfing at his own course in West Palm Beach.Thursday’s hearing, however, will focus on the July 13 shooting at Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.A 20-year-old gunman opened fire from a rooftop just outside the rally perimeter, killing one attendee and injuring others. Trump was struck in the ear by a bullet and was quickly evacuated offstage by Secret Service agents.TRUMP HAS ‘PRESIDENTIAL LEVEL’ SECRET SERVICE PROTECTION, LAWMAKERS TOLDWitnesses will include Edward Lenz, commander of the Butler County Emergency Services Unit; Butler Township Police Patrolman Drew Blasko; Pennsylvania State Police Lt. John Herold; former Secret Service agent Patrick Sullivan; and the Allegheny County medical examiner, Dr. Ariel Goldschmidt. The task force, led by Chairman Mike Kelly, R-Pa., and ranking member Rep. Jason Crow, D-Colo., has already sent out a flurry of information and document requests to local, state and federal officials.Lawmakers hope to get to the bottom of how Thomas Matthew Crooks was able to position himself so close to the rally with his weapon despite being noticed by some attendees and even local officials long before he opened fire. »The communication failures on the day of the event were clearly catastrophic [and] led to what we saw happen that day. So, I anticipate we’re going to hear testimony from people who were there, who were part of that process, who can give us information about how those breakdowns occurred, » Rep. Laurel Lee, R-Fla., a task force member, said on « Fox News Live » Sunday. The hearing comes a day after the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee released a damning interim report detailing planning and security failures that occurred July 13.The report said the Secret Service did not have an adequate chain of command in place for approving security decisions ahead of the rally and failed to coordinate security specifically in relation to the building the shooter fired from.It accused the Secret Service Counter Sniper Team leader of not going inside or on top of the building and said a sniper team charged with monitoring the area had an obstructed view, among other issues.

Federal judge orders EPA to further regulate fluoride in drinking water due to concerns over lowered IQ in kid

[ad_1]

It has been added to municipal water for decades, but a federal judge in California has ordered the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to further regulate fluoride because high levels could pose « an unreasonable risk » to the intellectual development of children.U.S. District Judge Edward Chen ruled Tuesday that the scientific evidence of fluoride’s health risks when ingested at current prescribed levels requires stricter regulation under the 2016 Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). The act provides a legal pathway for citizens to petition the EPA to consider whether an industrial chemical presents health risks.Chen, in his 80-page ruling, « little dispute » over whether fluoride is hazardous and ordered the EPA to take steps to lower that risk, but didn’t say what those measures should be. »Indeed, EPA’s own expert agrees that fluoride is hazardous at some level of exposure, » the judge said. « And ample evidence establishes that a mother’s exposure to fluoride during pregnancy is associated with IQ decrements in her offspring. »FLUORIDE IN WATER LINKED TO LOWER INTELLIGENCE »Between 1981 and 1984, fluoride’s association with adverse effects including osteosclerosis, enamel fluorosis, and psychological and behavioral problems was contested, » Chen said.At the same time, he wrote that the court’s finding « does not conclude with certainty that fluoridated water is injurious to public health, » Chen said. « Rather, as required by the Amended TSCA, the Court finds there is an unreasonable risk of such injury, a risk sufficient to require the EPA to engage with a regulatory response. »This order does not dictate precisely what that response must be. Amended TSCA leaves that decision in the first instance to the EPA. One thing the EPA cannot do, however, in the face of this Court’s finding, is to ignore that risk, » Chen added. « If the Court finds anew that the chemical at issue presents an unreasonable risk, it then orders the EPA to engage in rulemaking regarding the chemical, » the judge said. « The EPA is afforded in the first instance the authority to respond; regulatory actions can range from requiring a mere warning label to banning the chemical. »An EPA spokesperson, Jeff Landis, told The Associated Press that the agency was reviewing the decision but offered no further comment. It’s the first time a federal judge has made a determination about the neurodevelopmental risks to children of the recommended U.S. water fluoride level, said Ashley Malin, a University of Florida researcher who has studied the effect of higher fluoride levels in pregnant women. She called it « the most historic ruling in the U.S. fluoridation debate that we’ve ever seen. »Currently, more than 200 million Americans, or about 75 percent of the population, drink fluoridated water.DOES FLUORIDE IN DRINKING WATER HURT YOUR BRAIN?In 1950, federal officials endorsed water fluoridation to prevent tooth decay, and they continued to promote it even after fluoride toothpaste brands hit the market several years later. In 1945, Grand Rapids, Michigan became the first city in the world to fluoridate its water supply. Critics have long said that washing teeth with fluoride is not comparable to the risks posed by ingesting fluoride, with the latter potentially triggering harmful neurotoxic effects. Since 2015, federal health officials have recommended a fluoridation level of 0.7 milligrams per liter of water. For five decades before that, the recommended upper range was 1.2 « after evidence increasingly established fluoride’s connection to adverse effects, including severe enamel fluorosis, risk of bone fracture, and potential skeletal fluorosis, » the judge wrote. Skeletal fluorosis is a potentially crippling disorder which causes weaker bones, stiffness and pain. The World Health Organization has set a safe limit for fluoride in drinking water of 1.5. Separately, the EPA has a longstanding requirement that water systems cannot have more than 4 milligrams of fluoride per liter of water. The case was brought by Food and Water Watch, an advocacy organization which petitioned the EPA to investigate lowered IQs in children allegedly caused by fluoride. The EPA denied the group’s 2016  petition calling for the agency to ban or limit the fluoridation of drinking water. Food & Water Watch and several co-petitioners subsequently sued the EPA to compel action citing the mounting scientific evidence of toxicity when fluoride is ingested. »Today’s ruling represents an important acknowledgment of a large and growing body of science indicating serious human health risks associated with fluoridated drinking water, » the group said in a statement. »This court looked at the science and acted accordingly. Now the EPA must respond by implementing new regulations that adequately protect all Americans – especially our most vulnerable infants and children – from this known health threat. »Tuesday’s ruling cited a review of 72 human epidemiological studies and available literature by the U.S. National Toxicology Program which concluded that fluoride is connected to reduced IQ in children. »Notwithstanding recognition by EPA’s expert that fluoride is hazardous, the EPA points to technicalities at various steps of the risk evaluation to conclude that fluoride does not present an unreasonable risk, » Chen said. « Primarily, the EPA argues the hazard level and the precise relationship between dosage and response at lower exposure levels are not entirely clear. These arguments are not persuasive. »The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Trump’s game day meal for Alabama-Georgia football game reportedly revealed

[ad_1]

Former President Donald Trump has reportedly set his game day meal when he is expected to watch one of the biggest college football games of the season on Saturday, and the 78-year-old candidate does not appear to be concerned about his health or diet based on his choices. Trump, who is expected to attend the game between No. 2 Georgia and No. 4 Alabama in Tuscaloosa, has reportedly requested a meal that includes two McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish sandwiches with cheese, Domino’s pizza, stadium hot dogs and Diet Coke, according to Alabama businessman Ric Mayers, via AL.com. Mayers invited Trump to Saturday’s game and took on the responsibility in making sure Trump’s guests had tickets and ordering the food requested by the former president.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMThe McDonald’s fish sandwiches have been a signature of Trump’s for years. At a CNN town hall during his first campaign in 2016, Trump said that the sandwich was « his favorite meal. » »I’m a very clean person. I like cleanliness, » Trump said. « I think you’re better off going there than someplace that you maybe have no idea where the food is coming from. It’s a certain standard. But I think the food is good. »Trump served massive spreads of McDonald’s to multiple championship sports teams who visited the White House to celebrate their titles while Trump was in office in his first term. These teams include the 2019 national football champion Clemson Tigers and that year’s women’s college basketball champion, the Baylor Bears. The combination of the two Filet-O-Fish sandwiches with cheese will account for a total of 780 calories with 28 grams of fat and 1160 milligrams of sodium in Trump’s meal, according to nutritional information on McDonald’s.com. However, the Filet-O-Fish sandwiches are considered one of the healthier things on the McDonald’s menu due to them having zero grams of trans fat and 16 grams of protein each. Adding the Domino’s pizza on top of that could significantly increase the amount of calories and fat involved, however. Trump would add 288 calories and 9.69 grams of fat for every slice of plain cheese pizza he adds to his plate. However, if he opts for an entire 14-inch pie, it would be 2,222 calories with 77.6 grams of fat, according to the USDA.Trump is indulging in this public outing and decadent meal despite only just surviving the second assassination attempt on his life in three months on Sept. 16. At 78, his age and health have been a talking point regarding his candidacy, especially from Democrats after President Biden’s withdrawal from the race amid concerns about his health and age. However, Trump’s personal physician, Dr. Bruce Aronwald, released the former president’s  medical report last November, indicating he was in great health despite his advanced age, noting his cognitive exams were « exceptional. »DNC FLY ANTI-TRUMP BANNERS OVER COLLEGE FOOTBALL GAMES IN KEY SWING STATES AS HARRIS SLIPS IN POLLS « I am pleased to report that President Trump’s overall health is excellent. His physical exams were well within the normal range and his cognitive exams were exceptional. In addition, his most recent extensive laboratory analysis remains well within normal limits and was even more favorable than prior testing in some of the most significant parameters, most likely secondary to weight reduction, » Aronwald wrote. He wrote that Trump’s cardiovascular studies were « normal, » that all of his cancer screenings came back negative and that he had « reduced his weight through an improved diet and continued daily physical activity, while maintaining a rigorous schedule. » »It is my opinion that President Trump is currently in excellent health, and with his continued interest in preventative health monitoring and maintenance, he will continue to enjoy a healthy active lifestyle for years to come, » Aronwald added. The game day meal aside, Trump’s expected presence at the event is one of the most-anticipated appearances of the college football season.Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer, who has guided the Crimson Tide to the No. 4 ranking in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll, was asked about Trump’s expected attendance for the game. »I’m sure there’s gonna be a lot of celebrity-type people here – people that want to come be a part of what’s happening on game day, » DeBoer said, via AL.com. « Everyone’s watching. It’ll be great to have everyone who wants to come watch be here. »For us, I told the guys this, with ‘Gameday’ and everything coming here as well, for the guys, try to take as much off of their plate other than maybe a few extra interviews toward the end of the week. The main thing is they get prepared to play the best football game that they’ve played this year. I’ve always challenged them to play the best football game they’ve ever played in their career. That’s what matters when it comes down to what we can control. »Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance, made an appearance at the East Carolina Pirates football game against Appalachian State on Sept. 14 and was greeted with a rousing cheer from the Pirates fans there. While Georgia and Alabama hold one of the most storied rivalries in college football, Vance has proposed he and Trump make a visit to another famous rivalry game if they win the election in November. « Well, let’s go to the Ohio State-Michigan game, assuming we win, because I bet I can get some pretty sweet tickets as the VP-elect, and we’ll be in a celebratory mood, » Vance said during an appearance on « The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show, » « and, look, it’s, it’s going to be a big game this year. »Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Biden to sign executive order aiming to reduce gun violence, eliminate controversial gun conversion devices

[ad_1]

The White House is expected to announce new actions to reduce gun violence, Fox News has learned.According to a senior administration official, President Biden is poised to sign an executive order that will address key priorities for combating firearms threats, including eliminating gun conversion devices and establishing an emerging firearms threats task force. The executive order will also aim to improve school-based active shooter drills to better prepare students for emergency situations. The executive order comes just days after the mass shooting in Birmingham, Alabama on Sept. 21 that left four dead and 17 wounded. It also comes as former President Trump has survived two attempted assassinations in recent months.HARRIS CAMPAIGN WON’T GIVE DETAILS ON TYPE OF GUN SHE OWNS, LAST TIME SHE WENT TO RANGEThe White House says firearm technology is rapidly evolving and Biden’s actions are aimed at reducing two key emerging threats: machine gun conversion devices and 3D printed firearms. GUN RIGHTS, GENDER TRANSITIONS, MEDICAL POT AMONG ISSUES SCOTUS WILL TACKLE THIS TERMThe senior administration official said conversion devices, those that aid in converting semi-automatic pistol into a fully automatic firearm, are already illegal under federal law but are continuing to be used in crime and recovered by law enforcement agencies across the country. The relatively new 3D printed firearms are built from computer code downloaded from the internet, making them widely available. They also lack serial numbers, which often help investigators trace firearms recovered at crime scenes. These 3D printed firearms can also be built with non-metal materials, making them undetectable by magnetometers used to secure airports, courthouses, and event spaces, the senior administration official said.Biden’s executive order will establish an emerging firearms threats task force consisting of leadership from various federal departments and agencies. It will be tasked with issuing a report within 90 days that includes an assessment of the threat posed by machine gun conversion devices and 3D printed firearms, the senior administration official said. The assessment will also include a review of federal agencies, operational and legal capacities to detect, intercept and seize these firearm and firearm components. Finally, it will direct the Secretary of Education, the Secretary of Homeland Security, the attorney general, the secretary of Health and Human Services, and the U.S. Surgeon General to develop and publish new active shooter drills. Nick Rojas contributed to this report.
