A climber who vanished early last week in Glacier National Park has been found dead after suffering an apparent fall, the National Park Service says. Grant Marcuccio, 32, of Whitefish, Montana, was located Sunday after disappearing from his hiking party on Aug. 18. « Cause of death is still under investigation, but traumatic injuries and location of the body are indicative of a fall, » the NPS said in a statement. It added that Marcuccio was spotted from the air about « one-third of a mile east of McPartland Peak below the ridgeline between Heavens Peak and McPartland Peak. » BODY OF MISSING ARIZONA HIKER FOUND DAYS AFTER FLASH FLOOD AT GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK Officials said « Marcuccio separated from his party to summit McPartland Peak alone and planned to rendezvous at a designated location » but « Rangers were alerted by the hiking party on Sunday evening that Marcuccio never made it to the rendezvous spot. » « Glacier National Park staff would like to express their sincere condolences to the family and ask that the public respect their privacy, » the NPS also said. LIGHTNING STRIKE AT ARIZONA’S HORSESHOE BEND INJURES 2 TOURISTS Rescuers have been searching for Marcuccio since last Monday, utilizing Two Bear Air Rescue flights, rangers and search teams. « Grant is a good friend and climbing partner of mine, a talented and experienced mountaineer, a kind person, no ego, and loved by all, » a Facebook user wrote in response to a post alerting the public about Marcuccio’s disappearance.  Glacier National Park is known for its « beautiful glacial lakes, waterfalls, valleys, and alpine meadows, » FOX Weather reports, but it can also « experience quickly changing and extreme weather. »  « Be aware that mountain weather is unpredictable; always be prepared for a variety of conditions, » the park’s website states. Fox News’ Pilar Arias contributed to this report.

A Virginia man is accused of killing the mother of his children, then dragging her out of their home and concealing her body, according to court documents made public on Friday.U.S. Army veteran Naresh Bhatt, 37, allegedly Googled « How long does it take to get married after a spouse dies » in the months before 28-year-old pediatric nurse Mamta Kafle Bhatt was last seen on July 27, prosecutors said at his first court appearance on Thursday. Bhatt faces accusations that he abused his wife, prosecutors said, according to The Washington Post. Filmmaker and activist Michael Moore is « over the moon » about the possibility of electing Vice President Kamala Harris as the « most progressive » president in American history. Moore wrote in his Substack that he hasn’t been this happy since he voted for former President Obama, hasn’t « been this thrilled since Ben & Jerry’s released Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream » and hasn’t felt « that America still stands a chance » since former President Nixon resigned in 1974. « Two months ago, the results of our upcoming 2024 presidential election seemed to be a foregone conclusion, and a second Trump presidency seemed inevitable. A Cirque du Soleil performer has been captured on video suffering a terrifying fall during a live performance in Portland, Oregon, drawing gasps from the audience. Footage taken by 10-year-old Benjamin Goldstein shows the aerialist – identified by KOIN 6 News as Mariia Konfektova – slipping from a hoop while twirling above the stage Saturday at the Portland Expo Center. « At first, I thought it was part of the show, like, it looked like it was purposefully, » Goldstein told the station. « But then we’re, like, people were acting weird. I was like, oh, this isn’t part of the show. The White House insisted again Monday that President Biden remains in charge of the country despite being on a second straight week of vacation. During a teleconference Monday, White House National Security Communications Adviser John Kirby recognized the three-year-anniversary of the Aug. 26, 2021, Abbey Gate suicide bombing that killed 13 U.S. service members and more than 100 Afghans outside Kabul Airport. Biden, who is at his vacation home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, for the week, notably remained out of public view on the anniversary of the deadly terrorist attack. Last week, Biden was vacationing in California, including when the Israeli military said they launched a preemptive strike destroying thousands of Hezbollah rocket launchers in Lebanon, essentially deterring a major attack by the terrorist group intended for central Israel.  A journalist noted Biden’s public absence in a question to Kirby on Monday.

« The President’s public comportment and the paucity of events on his public schedule, as on this very day, have fostered a public perception that Mr. Biden is increasingly disengaged from the presidency, » Newsmax’s James Rosen said on the teleconference. « Time and again, the question I am hearing from members of the general public, and which I put to you here, Admiral, is: Who is running the country? »BIDEN FLIES FROM ONE VACATION TO ANOTHER AFTER VOWING TO END GAZA WAR, WITH MIDDLE EAST ON THE BRINK »Is he a ceremonial figure in some sense at this point? » he added. « James, now you know better than that. Biden and Vice President Harris, the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee, were both absent but released separate statements listing the names of the 13 U.S. service members killed. TRUMP EXPECTED TO SLAM HARRIS ON 3RD ANNIVERSARY OF DEADLY AFGHANISTAN ATTACK THAT KILLED 13 AMERICANSSome of the relatives of the fallen took to the stage of the Republican National Convention last month to condemn Biden for never publicly stating their names, and the Trump campaign doubled down on their criticism of the Biden-Harris administration’s Afghanistan withdrawal, noting that Harris had « bragged » about being the last person in the room with Biden before he made the decision.The Trump campaign on Monday also slammed how neither Biden nor Harris, despite their written statements, have ever said the names of the 13 Americans killed out loud publicly and stressed how their handling of the withdrawal « stranded thousands of American citizens and left billions of dollars worth of U.S. equipment behind for the Taliban. » The statements from Biden and Harris each noted that « America’s longest war » was over and remembered the 2,461 U.S. service members killed and the 20,744 wounded during the two-decade-long conflict.

Vice President Kamala Harris has gone over five weeks refusing to give specifics to voters about her policy positions, holding no news conferences and sitting for zero major interviews since becoming the Democrats’ presidential nominee.Harris spoke on Thursday at the Democratic National Convention (DNC), officially accepting the nomination, and has been busy on the campaign trail, but she has failed to face substantive questions since replacing President Biden on the ticket last month. Now that the party’s national convention has wrapped up, speculation about when Harris will end her media blackout is likely to pick up steam as Americans want to know where she stands on a variety of hot-button issues. Policy shifts on fracking, border security and private health insurance are among issues that she has been urged to explain in recent weeks. During one of her rare and brief press gaggles, Harris insisted on Aug. 9 that she wanted « to get an interview scheduled before the end of the month. » But now, there’s just over a week until the calendar flips to September and Harris has not announced any sort of interview. KAMALA HARRIS SUPPORTERS UNSURE WHEN ASKED ABOUT VP’S POLICY ACCOMPLISHMENTSAxios reported Monday that Harris will sit for her first interview this week as she crosses parts of Georgia on a bus tour, but it still hasn’t been officially announced.Former CNN pundit Chris Cillizza called it « unacceptable » on Monday that she had still not done anything formal in over five weeks. »You will not see one press conference from her in the next 75 days until Election Day, » Fox News contributor Joe Concha predicted last week. Meanwhile, her opponent, former President Trump, called into Fox News moments after Harris’ DNC speech for an interview; recently sat down with podcaster Theo Von; conducted a two-hour chat on X with supporter Elon Musk; and held a pair of press conferences where he answered questions about a wide variety of topics. Harris has famously struggled when faced with tough questions in the past, often appearing to laugh uncomfortably or offering jumbled and confusing answers. In 2021, Harris struggled to explain a strategy for securing the border and infamously joked she hadn’t been to Europe, either, when NBC News anchor Lester Holt asked why she hadn’t visited the southern border. HOW LONG WILL THE KAMALA HARRIS HONEYMOON IN THE POLLS AGAINST DONALD TRUMP LAST?In 2023, The New York Times reported that she « all but went into a bunker for about a year, avoiding many interviews out of what aides said was a fear of making mistakes and disappointing Mr. Biden » after the « disastrous » sit-down with Holt.  The Wall Street Journal editorial board on Friday wrote that her DNC speech lacked substance. « Harris introduced herself to the American public on Thursday, and her presentation was much like this week’s Democratic convention: well delivered, confident and optimistic, and mostly devoid of policy substance. It’s a far cry from Trump’s losing, ineffective strategy of rage-posting, accosting reporters, and insulting the voters he’ll need to win. »If Donald Trump is so concerned about the success of VP Harris’ campaign blitz, he could, you know, get out there on the campaign trail. An arrest has been made in connection with a fire started in an Athens, Tennessee, church and police say they believe the suspect killed a woman inside before starting the blaze.A police report obtained by WZTV states that surveillance footage captured Kyle Jay Hickox in the area several times before and after the historic church was burned to the ground earlier this month.According to the report, the victim who was found dead in the church, Linda Buchanan, did not die from the fire but was killed by another person before the fire was ignited.Hickox was taken into custody Friday and charged with second degree murder. Additional charges are pending.VIDEO SHOWS NASHVILLE POLICE CAPTURE FUGITIVE WITH HELP OF HELICOPTER CREWIn the surveillance footage, Hickox is allegedly captured on Aug. 15 running across the property of the nearby Athens YMCA and onto the property of Tennessee Wesleyan University.He entered a maintenance building at the college where a worker inside ordered him to leave. Hickox, the report said, responded that he « would get God’s water » before exiting the building.The maintenance worker told investigators he then observed Hickox running toward St. Mark AME Zion Church and enter through the back door.About 10 minutes later, Hickox was allegedly seen in the footage running through the YMCA property toward the college’s soccer field.The suspect then removed his shirt and wrapped it around one of his hands. He also used a hose to spray his body off, surveillance footage showed.Police executed a search warrant on Hickox’s Athens home two days later and found clothing they believe he was wearing when the church was lit on fire.FORMER AUSTIN PEAY COACH PATRICK KUGLER ARRESTED, CHARGED IN HUMAN TRAFFICKING INVESTIGATION IN TENNESSEEThe Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Lab revealed that blood on Hickox’s left shoe matched Buchanan’s blood.Hickox was booked into the McMinn County Jail but has since been released.

After tabulations from the state’s recent primary were finalized, the Vermont Republican Party recorded 22 new candidates for state House races, on top of the 74 that had already been on the ballot for the 150-member chamber.While nationally considered a blue state, Vermont Republican Party Chairman Paul Dame said Monday the development was exceptional, given the state’s actual penchant to blur partisan lines.He ascribed the GOP’s boost to a recently enacted « double-digit » property tax hike in the state, as well as voters’ renewed focus on the presidential race. »I think we’re absolutely poised to pick up seats from where we have been, there seems to be much more energy and cohesion on the Republican side than we’ve had in a while, » Dame said.RNC FILES LAWSUIT OVER NONCITIZEN VOTING RIGHTS IN VERMONT’S LARGEST CITYGov. Phil Scott, a moderate Republican ranked the most popular such official in the country at 81%, has also been involved with party work, Dame said. I think that that’s sort of the national… but then Vermont is adding a new layer on top of that. »With the Democrats recently earning a supermajority in the legislature, Scott has issued a record number of vetoes and Democratic lawmakers in return have issued a record number of veto overrides.Thus was the case in the property tax debate, with Scott calling for « tax relief now, » while House Speaker Jill Krowinski, D-Chittenden, said the governor failed to offer a sufficient alternative plan.As for the GOP’s prospects in November, Vermont has had a penchant for ideologically divergent election results.Scott is just as much a heavy favorite as Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., the self-described « democratic socialist. » »Vermonters vote for authenticity, » Dame added. « And both Gov. Phil Scott and Sen. The debate over debates tells us a great deal about the state of the presidential race.If only we could figure out what it is.Donald Trump, by slamming « ABC FAKE NEWS, » suggested he may pull out of the Sept. 10 faceoff. He said yesterday at a Vietnamese restaurant in Virginia that it was Kamala Harris who is trying to back out of the debate.A top Harris campaign official, Michael Tyler, responded on MSNBC that the vice president is actually anxious to debate and he thought all the issues had been worked out.KAMALA HARRIS, TIME COVER GIRL: IS HER SURGE AGAINST TRUMP FUELED BY AN ENDLESS MEDIA HONEYMOON?My best read is that the debate will happen and that this is the kind of last-minute negotiation for which Trump is renowned.Remember, this debate was worked out with Joe Biden, whose first encounter with Trump, which the president demanded, was such a disaster that it knocked him out of the race. That led to Harris as the substitute nominee, which was not a « coup » – it’s clear that Trump misses Biden – because nobody ran against Kamala.A good rule of thumb is that the candidate who is perceived to be behind, or to have lost momentum, wants the debate more urgently.At the CNN debate, Biden insisted that the microphones be muted for the candidate who wasn’t recognized to speak. He was obviously trying to avoid a repeat of their first 2020 encounter, when Trump constantly talked over him.But now Kamala is insisting that the mikes be kept live no matter who is speaking. Her campaign says this will demonstrate that Trump isn’t capable of acting « presidential » for 90 minutes.Another way to look at it: If the former president does constantly interrupt her, it will remind people what they don’t like about him – and could seem more rude when up against a woman of color. Then she can complain that he trampled on her.TRUMP, REJECTING ADVICE, TRIES MOCKERY, INSULTS, AI AGAINST KAMALA, BUT IS IT WORKING?In fairness, though, what Harris wants now is the way it’s been in virtually every presidential fall debate. It was the CNN debate, at the insistence of the 81-year-old Biden, that was the exception.Is this dispute enough to derail the thing? Again, I doubt it. Here’s what Trump had to say (and he’s back tweeting!): »I watched ABC FAKE NEWS this morning, both lightweight reporter Jonathan Carl’s (K?) ridiculous and biased interview of Tom Cotton (who was fantastic!), and their so-called Panel of Trump Haters, and I ask, why would I do the Debate against Kamala Harris on that network?… Will panelist Donna Brazil[e] give the questions to the Marxist Candidate like she did for Crooked Hillary Clinton? Will Kamala’s best friend, who heads up ABC, do likewise. » After making fun of the name of George Stephanopoulos – who will not be involved in the debate – Trump says: They’ve got a lot of questions to answer!!! Why did Harris turn down Fox, NBC, CBS, and even CNN? Stay tuned!!! »The ABC panel that drew Trump’s ire was Karl, Politico’s Jonanthan Martin and Rachael Bade, and contributor Donna Brazile.The 45th president, who is facing an overwhelmingly hostile press corps, may also be trying to grab some attention after a month of pro-Kamala coverage. The Democratic convention was successful by almost any measure, including Harris’ speech, but when Rachel Maddow said that she and others at the MSNBC mothership « stood up and cheered » over Tim Walz’s appearance, that was rather striking.What’s equally fascinating is how many pundits defended Biden’s mental acuity, but now, with Trump running against a 59-year-old woman, are trying to portray him as having lost a few steps.Most journalists and commentators have displayed little interest in Harris’ refusal to do interviews, with some even saying she shouldn’t because things are going so well. Her deputy campaign manager told me on « Media Buzz » that the first one would be by Aug. 31, and we’ll see if it’s with a sympathetic liberal.Trump, meanwhile, did two lengthy news conferences in about a week – and MSNBC refused to take the second one live, with their pundits saying he lies all the time anyway.RFK JR QUITS, DENOUNCES MEDIARFK Jr. stepped on Harris’ post-convention vibe fest by dropping out and endorsing Trump, which certainly could help him at least marginally in such a close race. MSNBC, again, refused to take Kennedy’s presser live. Now does anyone seriously believe that if RFK had endorsed Kamala Harris, the network wouldn’t have aired it live – and immediately invited him on?Kennedy fans are welcome to vote for him, although his siblings called his Trump endorsement the ultimate betrayal. His response was to scapegoat the media: »ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC and CNN combined gave only two live interviews. Those networks instead ran a continuous deluge of hit pieces with inaccurate, often vile audios and defamatory smears … »Your institutions have made themselves government mouthpieces and stenographers for the organs of power. »Many interviews are pretaped, but the reason the networks gave RFK little airtime is he was a fringe candidate with no plausible hope of winning a single state. He was certainly a colorful candidate – saying he had a brain worm, covering up how he put a dead bear carcass in his car that he planned to eat for dinner – but that’s something entirely different.And consider this: RFK ran as a Democrat, then an independent. He tried to make a deal with both Kamala and Trump to trade his endorsement for the promise of a top health care job if either won. A Venezuelan electoral official has denounced what he calls a « grave lack of transparency and veracity » in last month’s election results, rebuking authorities who declared President Nicolás Maduro the winner despite strong evidence to the contrary presented by his opponents and doubts from several foreign governments.Juan Carlos Delpino is one of five members of the National Electoral Council, or CNE in Spanish, and the only one who prior to the vote had shown a willingness to go against the wishes of Maduro’s government.On Monday, he published a letter on social media detailing several alleged irregularities before and on the day of the July 28 election. Hell, Tulsi Gabbard, another former Democrat, just endorsed Trump today. So what’s with all these smart people acting smart? Maybe you notice something. Among all these clever original thinkers, you don’t see any going in the other direction. You’re more likely to see Caitlyn Jenner doing an ad for Just For Men. Sure, we’ve had Republicans like Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger switch, but that’s not over policy. That’s personality and ego – theirs. Rice University in Houston was rocked by an apparent murder-suicide on the first day of classes for the fall semester.A female student was found dead in her dorm during a welfare check by university police. Authorities are investigating a death that occurred on the first day of the infamous Burning Man festival in the northern Nevada desert. The Pershing County Sheriff’s Office said emergency personnel responded to a call about a woman found unresponsive around noon Sunday in Black Rock City — a temporary city erected for the festival, some 100 miles north of Reno.The Burning Man Project’s emergency services personnel were unsuccessful in attempting life-saving measures on the woman. »It is with heavy hearts that Burning Man Project confirms the death of a participant in Black Rock City in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends affected by this loss, » festival organizers said in a statement, adding: « We are cooperating fully with local authorities as they investigate this incident. »Pershing County Sheriff Jerry Allen said Sunday’s death will remain under investigation until a cause and manner can be determined, which will be updated at the conclusion of an autopsy.Allen said the woman’s name and age won’t be released until her relatives can be notified. Jones also has quarterback Dak Prescott and head coach Mike McCarthy on expiring deals entering the regular season.But Jones knows that even if he did have a GM in place, he would be the one making the final calls on everything. »Plus, I’m where the buck stops, » he said. « When it f—s up, I got to cover it. They haven’t. « I’m emotional about it sometimes, » Jones said. « Well, running this thing, that’s who I want to make the last call. Now, when I can’t f—ing think, when I’m old, and I can’t even do it … but I’m a long way from not being able to do it, too. »Jones bought the Cowboys in 1989, and he helped architect a team that won three Super Bowls in his first six years. His leadership has been recognized by the NFL, having been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2017.Jones bought the Cowboys for $150 million.
